God, I just noticed that the beginning of the chorus in Stay sounds like the line "So kiss me, and smile for me" from Leaving on a Jet Plane, and now I can never unhear it.

A&I deluxe vinyl is so awesome. Probably my favorite alkaline trio LP I own. I got the bone variant a few months ago. The bonus songs sound so good.

After half a dozen listens, I am more than happy with this album. Only "Goodbye Fire Island" has yet to truly grow on me. Some of the lyrics are :sly: (and there's something about it that reminds me of blink's "Los Angeles")

"Worn So Thin" is forgettable despite the fact that I tap my toe when I play it... but then I can't remember a note once "Thrown Me to the Lions" comes on.

this is super solid. a late career gem from a band that probably peaked over a decade ago but nonetheless keeps trucking on. can't say im a fan of their last 2 and a half albums but this is quite good.

Posted this in the main band thread, but thought I'd share it here as well since there are a few questions related to Is This Thing Cursed?

One hour til this is in my ears. So excited.

I'll probably stream it and then buy it off Google Play tonight. Pick up a physical when it's convenient.

Which song is about the trump administration? I have listened through once and can't tell ulcer which one it is. This album is weird and way different and dark and interesting and I totally love it! It is progression in a good way!

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

    it's "I Can't Believe"

That was one of the fastest first listens I've had like it went by so quick in the best way. Holy shit, I love it so much. Some inspired guitar parts and melodies that feel kinda fresh to me for Trio. Musically Goodbye Fire Island was easily my favorite first time. Last three albums there's always a couple Skiba songs that could've been left off for me and were the weakest. This time Little Help and Pale Blue Ribbon are my bottom 2 but I really don't dislike either. The Social D comp on Little Help nails it, it's so not a Trio song haha. But those two are short as hell and fly by that it doesn't approach dragging the album down for me. Throw Me To The Lions (2nd favorite musically) and Krystalline are classic Skiba melodies that you can like immediately sing along to the rest before the first line finishes haha. The emotion in Matt's voice at the end of Krystalline is perfection. Love the production, the instrument tones, tracking a 2nd guitar in the right ways. Derek kills it. About as hyped as I've ever been for an album and not an ounce of disappointment. Top tier Trio.

Love the fact that there's possibly Kubrick references in this

"Throw me to the lions, listen for the screams, show me how the scientist inside of you thinks" I just love that chorus haha. All the lyrics on that song for that matter

Goodbye Fire Island starts with that really ominous riff and I feel like it fits the theme of the song perfectly
