Lol I just looked up from my phone on this L car and I didn’t realize that Riot Fest ads are lining the entire car. It’s a sign. Lineup coming once I get off the train

 

I’ve seen ETID at Durty Nellie’s, saw kids jumping off the PA, and crowd surfed with Jordan on stage. I’ve had my ETID moments.

At this stage, I think it's clear that this is probably the last Riot Fest, and any $99 pre-pay is pretty much just a refundable loan to that org.

This makes zero sense. This is beyond all comprehension and they have burned every last inch of goodwill.

Fuck this festival, I'm not blocking off 3 days for it again.

 

We’ll be trading notes sooner rather than later. I feel like we’ll be on the same page based on past trio offerings.

 

Unless I missed something back in March, that must have been the previous time they played. Last show was a ripper, but not that much lol

 

Was that recent? My now ex-band El Famous was direct support back in march haha

 

It just sucks because I’m already committed to two days but have no clue what day anyone is playing. And after shows? Guess I’ll only have a week to plan that out. They really did burn people this year. They could’ve just said they had some bumps in the road

 

I think this is a little overstated. I could see them shrinking and going smaller before just outright stopping. And honestly, I would really be that mad about that.

 

Why? That's the biggest question. What possible advantage does such a ridiculous strategy bring you? I understand holding out if you're shit isn't together, but at this point, it's 14 days until the start of the fest!

I'm glad I've held off pre-buying a $99 tickets, because I honestly don't think there is going to be a fest next year.

The sudden "Ticketfly" reasoning for suddenly discounting tickets by a huge amount, the fact they it went on for a month after they said it would end (and even now, tickets are $30 less than they were when I pre-sale bought them in December), the weird incident where their social media guy started going off at everyone on reddit then deleted all his posts, the not announcing *anything* 14 days before the start of it...

 

Remain Calm. All is well.

 

I have to admit, even with Bauhaus possible, and even with a good slate of bands in the initial rollout, this kinda sums up my fest mood right now:



Only inaccuracy: I doubt Riot would even notice, much less get mad.

Not sure I am speaking to an audience that digs the Desert lineup, but I would love to have MBV, Death Grips, Slowdive, Chelsea Wolfe, Beak>, A Place to Bury Strangers, Preoccupations, Warpaint, Mercury Rev, Julia Holter, and Tame Impala on the horizon. (With daily breakdown already posted.)

 

I love shoegaze and psyche as much as punk so I agree that's a great lineup. I was hoping all along that Riot Fest would get MBV and/or Slowdive.

 

Might be reading too much into your username, but I'm guessing you would have been good with Ride, too? Saw them at the Riviera in 2015—wonderful show.

Nope. You read it correctly. Ride is my favorite band and Nowhere is my favorite album. I'm from the East Coast so I was not at the Riviera but I have seen Ride a bunch of times since they reunited.

 

If this was the last Riot Fest, I'd be really bummed out because I've had some of the best weekends of my life there. But, at the same time, I've been wanting to try and go to TIFF the past few years too, and it falls on the same weekend.
