DO IT. It was surprisingly easy to close my BoA account. I switched to a credit union and i get discounts on baseball tickets and discounts on local shops. I got fed up getting charged 25 bucks per month for being too poor for BoA

 

I converted all my money to Shrute Bucks

Credit unions > big banks

Was in a credit union, and my paycheck went into my account at 9pm Thursday night of the week getting paid. Then the CU got bought out by a bigger bank, and now the paycheck doesn't show up until the next morning.

 

I have this happen too. I currently have 2 banks. usaa and wells fargo.

my paycheck makes it into USAA like 2 days before WF gets it.

I'd like to get rid of WF but that's where my mortgage is.

Tons of copyright lawsuits (and even more copyright trolling shakedowns that never even reach court) are based on one single bit of data: the IP address. I think the perk most people think of with big banks is more branches, more atms, and better online banking experience. With a credit union it might not be as "convenient" but the terms are usually more in your favor and they aren't gonna open an account in your name without telling you like wells fucking fargo did

 

I'm not sure if USAA is a credit union still or a bank but I kind of really like their website and the perks that come along with it.

such as atm fee refunds due to them not having their own ATM network you can use any atm and get a fee refund at the end of the month.

you have to military or have a family member who is/was to qualify.

 

Thanks, I've been with my current bank (they only exist in the northeast) for about 15 years with no real complaints

 

A Broken Relationship and Accusations of Emotional Abuse: The Case of Keith Ellison

When Keith Ellison became the first Muslim elected to Congress in 2006, it made him an instant national star: a charismatic young black leader who was now a symbol of the Democratic Party’s commitment to diversity and equal rights.

Back home in Minneapolis, Mr. Ellison was revered in a close-knit circle of progressive activists. He began a romantic relationship with one of them, an environmental organizer named Karen Monahan, who later moved in with him in 2015.

Ms. Monahan posted happy photos on social media of the two of them hiking, traveling and even attending a party at the White House with President Barack Obama and the first lady.

Behind the scenes, though, their relationship was rocky. Ms. Monahan often accused Mr. Ellison of cheating on her, leading to blowout arguments, according to more than a dozen people who knew the couple.

Now, as Mr. Ellison runs for attorney general in Minnesota, Ms. Monahan has accused her former boyfriend of emotional abuse and says he once shouted profanities at her, while trying to drag her off a bed.

Mr. Ellison denies abusing Ms. Monahan and said in a statement after the allegations emerged that he cares “deeply for her well-being.” Democratic Party leaders in Minnesota have asked a lawyer to look into Ms. Monahan’s allegations, but continue to support Mr. Ellison’s bid to become attorney general.

 

I don’t know what it’s like in other cities but I have like 15 diff credit unions where I live and I get reimbursed the surcharge if I use an atm at a diff credit union to pull money out.

For me it’s like shopping local vs. shopping with national chains, essentially.
