One year at Riot Fest I snuck booze in by simply going in first, having my friend meet me at the fence 50 feet away from security and passing it over. We were covered by the medical tent a little but that's about it. Those were the Humboldt park days though.

But normally I just go with sticking the little bottles of booze (idk the right word but i call them pints) in the frontal area held in place by my belt. I don't usually get checked there.

i snuck in a half pint of i think fireball (maybe jameson, i dont remember) one year it was lightly raining or supposed to rain by having it just in a wrapped up rain jacket in my hand. worked at pitchfork a couple times as well.

My buddy did the belt thing the last year it was at Humboldt, and he got patted right there. The guy told him to lift his shirt and he was like. "bro... you can't bring this in." and my buddy was like "yeahh, I know..." and walked in all defeated and we were dying haha.

Edit: I got mine in by holding it in my hand surrounded by my hoodie so when they patted the hoodie when I held it up they didn't find it. I got lucky haha

I had a security guard grab underwire on my bra pull at it and ask me what it was. She was at least apologetic when I answered. That was my first riot fest/ever festival ever a few years back and I was 15, was not expecting it haha.

I've also had them barely glance at my bag or not even pat me down depending on the line length and time of day and who you get.

This reminds me of when I saw Rise Against back in the days of digital cameras, I wrapped the strap around my belt and put the camera in my pants (I was like 17 and thought I was a genius). The guy patting me down touched it for a second and I think he thought he touched my dick because he immediately stopped and said "You can go" all awkwardly hahaha

I think it helps when you get there earlier in the day, but i don't really know why

Did Riot Fest ever acknowledge that they’d be selling single day tickets this year? Maybe they never planned on it from the start.

well on the left side of the site it shows each day and has a link to tickets but it just takes you to the regular 3-day ticket page

I saw a guy in front of me get his back-pack opened, the security lady pulling out a GALLON SIZED ZIP LOCK BAG OF WEED and give him the biggest "are you fucking shitting me?" look to the guy.

The man looked like he was ready to cry, but the security lady just gave him his pot back and let him leave the line, presumably to find somewhere to store it before he entered the festival.

Not all security folk are so bad.

On the other hand, they made me take apart my asthma inhaler, even after I told him I was unsure I'd even be able to get it back together.

upload_2018-8-29_20-20-8.png Just found this on the Riot Fest Twitter search. Literally the only thing they've like in the past couple of hours. Still thinking that throwaway account was legit, at least in regards to the announcements.

Security found my buddies bottle of liquor last year and told him he could keep it for $20 lol

I can't remember what they've done in past years but if this is true what would two separate announcements mean? Would it be 2nd wave Thursday and aftershows Tuesday?

    My guess is tomorrow

Second wave/daily's/single tickets and maybe aftershows

    Tuesday schedule

I just really want the schedule cus I like to plan my clashes, familiarize myself with some bands I plan to see based on the schedule I'm not as familiar, and know who I can truly get hyped about.

...AND AFTERSHOWS!!! The venues have to hate this, less time to advertise and make money off of them.

ive talked to Ferro on reddit about RF stuff last year. he said he had a friend who was an insider and his friends was telling him last year that they had a Bauhaus reunion almost in the bag (for '17) but it ended up falling through... so who knows if his insider info is legit or not since i have no idea if any of the bauhaus talk was legit or not.

Is anyone here doing the layaway plan for the tickets? If so are you have any toubles making the final payment? I keep trying but it says the code invalid or tickets may not yet be available

I did layaway. I paid yesterday without a problem and when I got the ticket, the pdf had two tickets. Then this morning they said I they were refunding me $0 because they charged me for a free ticket haha. Their system is messed up so you might have to wait.

Hey that was me!* Ferro is a buddy of mine. Also, reading this thread, I can 100% say that artists/bands LOVE playing Riot Fest and the festival as a whole has a stellar reputation. I talked to several of the bands who performed the past few years and many cited positive word of mouth as one of the reasons committing to the fest was so easy.

*-second hand. I was told the info and then shared it.

This would make the sense. That way they can put as much time into pushing daily tickets and tix for the aftershows before the festival...

And if history is any indication there's going to be at least a band or two on the second wave doing an aftershow.

I'm just hoping there aren't too many clashes this year... The schedule feels just "not crowded enough" that I'm hopefully not going to be facing too much heartache. Haha.

Interesting/cool to know that they were close (supposedly) to Bauhaus. Here's hoping this person is right!

It fell through logistically. It was a done deal otherwise.

If the second wave drops tomorrow why didn’t they send out an email or some post about calling the stupid hotline? It’s weird they aren’t amping anything up, isn’t it??

I've probably said it before, but by far the weirdest thing to me is that they haven't announced the daily lineups, even with just the bands as they are. Like I imagine when they book bands they are locked in for what days they will play, cus bands plan tours around this and what not. Why not at least announce that?
