I gave this album a break for a week and came back to it yesterday. Goddamn, it gets better with even a small amount of age.

This post is word for word my thoughts when I see someone thinking Sun is the worst song on the album.

I like D-Plan and get the comparisons at times with some minor really small things off of Goodness, but for the most part I feel like I don't hear in the influence nearly as much as some of you (ahem, cough* @cwhit ).
Honestly, Goodness Pt2 is really the only song I can draw similarities from.

i'm sort of biased by the fact that the first two songs i heard (sun and two deliverances) are the most d-plan songs of them all

Like, do they sound like things that could be on Emergency & I to you? Because I feel like Sun and Two Deliverances are waaaay poppier and less expirimental(?) than anything on that album.

And of course, that isn't meant to be a disservice to those songs. I think y'all can all guess my favorite band right now / my AOTY lol

I think Emergency has some ridiculously poppy songs. The City, What Do You Want Me To Say...

idk. I get that vibe a lot. The bassy intros of both the songs have a lot to do with it

Don't know about Amazon specifically, but the copies they were selling at shows had the censored sticker on the plastic wrap. Assuming all are like this.

This album is really starting to shine for me. I enjoyed when I first listened but wasn't floored initially, seemed a bit less nuanced than Home. Now I'm coming around and seeing its brilliance. Amazing album.

Also, I really love the drums. It's not the most intricate but I find myself tapping along with the drums and I love the tone of them.

This I love loud drums in my mix and this record is no exception. Makes it feel really rhythmic.

Completely agree about it making it feel really rhythmic. Constantly find myself bobbing my head, tapping my foot or fingers while listening.

I found one at a record store. It had that somewhat censored insert in front of it but doesn't do a very good job of it. Doesn't sound like there any actual pixelated covers.

Soft Animal is incredibly moving, considering it's lyrical topic. I feel like this is going to be a huge fixture of summer walks. This is the kind of album you can really find yourself to.

I know it's in d a half step down ha. Doesn't it pretty much keep that open d shape the whole time with just a moving bass?

I figured it out in the FACGCE half step down (same as settle the scar like the guy above me said).
Have you figured out Sun or Soft animal yet??

Yea I actually taught sun to a student on Wednesday lol. Half step down d chord (c shape on the 5th fret) to a c. And then the next one is a g chord with a b in the base. Chorus is b minor a g but the voicing a are a little more complicated that i don't want to type them up. Hint the b minor chord starts on the 7th fret on low e string. Also the little riff

    D (5th fret a string) g (open) f sharp (4th fret d string) e (second fret d string) c (third fret a string) open g and then back to c...

Bridge is just a c with an open a and d forever lol and then the chords that come in are e minor d g with a b in the base and c add9 with the d on the second string.

    Hope this helps

Also not sure if it's 100 percent correct but that's how I heard it.

The chords actually start out as just thirds and then the second guitar plays the full chords.

Also rhythm of the riff as I heard it 1 an 2 and 3 4 and 1 and 2 and 3 4 and ect. I learned the song through my iPhone speakers so I may be missing a note here and there but I'm not sure. I have this guitar student who just wants me to give him stuff he can jam along with on Spotify every week, he doesn't care what genre it's from, so naturally I picked hotelier this week
