back on topic: if that one random dude was legit I don't see how the fest can recover their losses with such a short time period to sell single day tickets. this is slowly becoming a legit dumpster fire.

 

I personally don't buy that it is legit. The whole part about selling the tickets from next year to pay for this year would be extremely shortsighted and stupid because doing so would mean that they would not have money to set up next year's and be in a way worse position for next year than they are this year. Also, as far as I know, Riot Fest has a relatively small group of people operating it that would know every single detail. Which I think is why we normally don't see any leaks. If it was really a person in the know that was frustrated with everything, why wait until two days before the announcement to leak that info. But maybe I am just trying to stay optimistic.

Right, I know it's not a huge team of people running the thing, and from what I've heard it's been kind of a clusterfuck this year, which explains why I've heard from people I know that things were going to be announced then nothing (yesterday was actually the second or third time I heard something like that in the last month or so). So I'm taking that random Reddit guy's claims with a grain of salt because yeah why say something like that when an announcement is actually coming?

I'm personally just at a point now where I'm like well I'm going anyways so I'll just hang in there haha, but I know others aren't exactly in the same boat as me so I feel for em.

yeah i agree with this. I'm also going anyway so I don't really care about a second wave. I just want to know what days and times shits happening on. I also would find it very strange for a large fest like riot to NOT book a headliner in advance but advertise a secret headliner... that doesn't sound like something they would ever do or any fest for that matter

 

So a friend of mine who lives in Chicago used to intern for them so I asked her about it. she said this:

I'm now being told how many tickets they give away each year with radio stations and stuff. Also apparently they charge so much for vendors and stuff that no one actually wants to renew this year. And lastly, apparently basically everyone in the industry knows it's a total shit show organisation wise and so it had a terrible rep.

 

I nominate the Spitalfield pre-show at Gman for anyone who is in town by then.

 

I'm definitely with you on this one. Especially since the tickets for next year are being sold for cheap...

I would also like to point out that somebody who was truly "in the know" wouldn't be so frustrated about the release/lack of information. That's the one major hole in that Reddit person's post that I don't think anybody has pointed out yet.

"I’m pissed about communication too and I understand the frustration." If you know what's up, why is it that you're pissed about communication? Because you're so selfless that you just want the public to get their answers? Highly doubtful.

Riot Fest posted something on Facebook about the new Laura Jane Grace single. Someone commented about the Reddit post and they replied "Why would I ever read anything on reddit."

Then they DELETED ALL THE COMMENTS RELATING TO IT. No addressing it, nothing. They just deleted them.

So yeah, I believe now.

 

RF has been deleting comments on FB posts left and right... it's almost embarrassing.

 

I mean, for what it's worth... I've heard that it's been a "shit show" of an organization from various people for like, five years now...

That being said? It's supposed to be an "older punk band." That's really good information. And it means they have something relatively set in stone and a back-up headliner.

Assuming this person's friend knows what they're talking about.

I did not BUT I can confirm I've had my comments deleted from them before on Facebook from them regarding the 2nd wave....even after they've responded with their snark.

 

...and now they've deleted the newest batch of comments from people calling them out on deleting the original comments.

Seems like a simple "That's bullshit, ignore it" would have sufficed.

 

How is this any different than the way ANY social media site is handled by any organization when people post a bunch of negative shit at them? I would imagine most organizations delete negative posts on their feeds when it's coming at them with any sort of regularity.

That being said, if enough people post negative comments maybe we'll actually get some info. (Insert old school AP.net pot-stirring emoji here)

 

My money is on that Reddit post being accurate, and we will have an annnouncenent tomorrow. At least I hope so.
