Now I have 3 songs I can play nonstop until the album drops on Friday!

 

Someone posted earlier that the chorus sounds like Gin Blossoms and now I can't unhear it. With that said it's still a pretty chill song but doesn't hit as immediately and the two previously released.

 

One of my favorites on the album.

 

Yeah I like this one a lot. Really loving their use of dual vocals on this record so far!

 

Yeah I'm ready for this to become my favourite album of theirs

 

These new songs are sooo good

It kinda bums me out though. Why couldn't Blink utilize Skiba's strengths more?!? This era of Blink could be so much more like the Untitled era if they let Skiba have more of the reins... Siiigh...

Can't wait for this Alkaline Trio album!!!

How's the album as a whole ?

 

After hearing the album I disagree with this take. Especially given the timing and what Blink was going for in a comeback/first album with Matt. But, beyond that, I don’t think Blink-182 should sound like Alkaline Trio. What Matt does for this band wouldn’t work the same for Blink, and I’m glad their are two outlets for him. (I wish this album had more of the polish and electronic elements of ‘California,’ but that’s because I’m on the ‘Crimson’ is the best Alk3 album train.)

 

That totally makes sense. I don't mean that I wish Blink sounded like Alkaline Trio, necessarily. These new Alk songs just are on a different level to me. Maybe it's because Derek, Matt, and Dan are just such a well-oiled machine and know each others strengths and weaknesses so well that it comes together perfectly. But to me, California needed more of a footprint from Matt. He's pretty much just there vocally. But it really doesn't matter in the long run. Both bands exist separately and so if I connect with one over the other, that's still a win.

 

I was under the impression that John Feldmann wrote like most/all of California, I don't feel like Matt had very much input on it

 

I think Blackbird might be my least favorite of the 3, but Demon and Division still sits below the title track for me (which is honestly a top 5 Dan song).

 

Can't wait for some really sad song there

 

Well, Crimson IS their best record (MSIT is a very close second)

 

Really dig this new track as well, ahhh I can't wait to listen to this

 

Makes sense. I like them both quite a bit ... they feel like part of the same whole, if that makes sense, but in different ways.

Will write more later today. Have a few phone calls first.

 

The backing "you're killing, you are killing" vocals in the bridge are so great ugh

 

Go look in the Trio group, you'll find some fun stuff lol.

 

I saw some bitching about "this doesn't sound like Matt why so much autotune" and "this is too produced Feldmann ruined Matt" and haven't looked since lol

I hate everyone. Haha. My biggest complaint (and it's minor), beside a few songs that don't work for me, is that the sound is a little muddled in places.

 

I very much like the three new songs.

Demon & Division is my favorite. And i may or may not head over to Damen & Division for a quick listen.

Will report back.

 

Yeah, this one was my least favorite of the three.

 

That group kills me ! They seem to never have a grasp of anything.
