I was expecting some new songs... but the only Palms song they played was The Grey, not even Only Us. I’m surprised honestly.

I agree that just The Grey is surprising.

But I really enjoy the mix of songs from the other records.

I have a feeling they’ll start amping up the new tracks the closer we get to release date.

It’s also their first time in Brazil, right? Probably want to play songs people have been waiting a while to hear live.

I love Thrice. I have a lot of expectations for this album, but I realize that it’d need to be 18 do nag to squeeze in everything I like.

    So glad they back.

Really good looking set list. Guess they don’t play there much and wanted to hit certain songs. Maybe they are just waiting for the album to come out before they unleash too many songs.

Jason’s review had me a little nervous about this. I was on the fence with the last release. Going into this with low expectations

I kinda figured they would save Only Us with a hype intro leading into their set for the album tour

No setlists for the second show in Brazil, but the setlist for the third show had the same songs, in a slightly different order, but swapped out Hold Fast Hope for Cold Cash and Colder Hearts.

Meh. I'd rather they swapped out a more overplayed live song than that but it is what it is.

I was there in the Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo concerts.

They had a pretty basic setup, only with their instruments and amps, so I think that it may've limited what they could play here and also the fact that it was their first time down here, so, IMO they're right in sticking with their already released stuff.

Both concerts were great, but the Rio one was just fucking incredible. Small venue, everybody singing their hearts out. Amazing night.

Yeah that makes sense! Still very cool that they did these shows.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

Hold Fast Hope, Daedalus (I know they still play it somewhat frequently, but it's one of my faves of theirs), and Cold Cash are all welcome additions to the set...just replace Artist or Of Dust and Nations with one of those tho.

I wish they'd replace Silhouette for the love of god..

I've seen them play this song at every goddamn one of their shows (about 25 shows). For some reason they can keep playing that one ad infinitum but get all up in arms when people want to hear Deadbolt or T&C.

Silhouette is so amazing live though! I'd be bummed if I ever saw a show without it!

Honestly, for as many albums as they have, they really don't have too many staples they always play.

Silhouette, Dust of Nations, The Earth Will Shake, Black Honey and Artist. That is not too bad at all, and they usually mix it up pretty well live.

I think overall Thrice is too predictable live, which I think is criticism they try to dodge by getting fans to vote on setlist composition. I remember seeing them on a small west-coast tour in like, 2006? It was before TAI was released I believe, and they played a great deal of lesser-played songs when I saw them that go round. It was incredible. I think they have such an interesting catalogue of music (that doesn't always require them to bring a ton of extra instruments) so just wish they'd mix it up a lot more.

Radiohead is one of my favorite bands, and seeing them on tour is always exciting in large part because they have unpredictable setlists and vary them every single night. This summer I saw them bust out a song they hadn't played in over 10 years. I saw them over two nights this summer and they played I think 42 different songs? Very few repeats.

Thrice in the past usually picks a set of songs and sticks to that for weeks on end, maaaaybe varying up a song every other night or so. I saw Thrice 2 nights in a row a few years ago. One night they played 13 songs, the other was 16 (checked setlist.fm). Of the 13 they played the first night, they played 12 of those the next night (plus more obviously as they had more time).

  23. Most people see the band once every 3-4 years at most. I think people need to take into consideration what the vast majority of those going to a show would like to see versus the people that are seeing the band every tour and multiple nights on tour.

By my very quick calculations, Thrice has (roughly) 110 songs.

Setlist.fm shows that in the 6 shows I’ve seen with setlists available, I’ve experienced 55 of those songs.

So, essentially, half of their output.

I have no complaints with that.
