- Suicidal Tendencies starts their tour in Phoenix 9/18, so I imagine they won't play Sunday?
- Wolfmother is playing in Minneapolis 9/16, so they're playing Friday or Saturday (probably Saturday)
- SWMRS is playing a festival in Los Angeles 9/14, so they're playing Saturday or Sunday (probably Sunday?)
- Reignwolf is playing Columbus 9/14, so they're playing Saturday or Sunday.
- Piebald is playing Detroit 9/14, so they're playing Saturday or Sunday.
- The Frights is playing Minneapolis 9/16, so they're playing Friday or Saturday.
- Flor starts a European tour 9/17, so they're not playing Sunday.
- Lower Class Brats is playing in Los Angeles 9/16, so they're playing Friday or Saturday.

 

Eh, I really don't trust any Friday ones unless the band has other dates on the 15th and 16th.
They could very likely just be posting the first day of RF

 

Any of the Friday ones I have listed here are because other tour dates/tours in general mean Saturday and Sunday wouldn't be possible.

 

Then please allow me to retract my comment and instead give you a thumbs up for your post.

Is Alkaline Trio on Sunday confirmed anywhere, or is it just because blink plays Riot Fest on Friday and Columbus on Saturday?

 

Just the assumption with the Blink plays. I can't imagine Matt doing Blink+Trio sets in the same day. I'd imagine Trio closes a stage as well

 

I agree that's the likely scenario, but I would be happy to see both blink and Trio on Friday haha.

 

TWY’s website says Saturday now but I know they previously posted Sunday as the date so not sure what to make of that.
Would be very happy if they’re one of the aftershows

edit: this was completely random and off topic but i just thought of that band the other day and realized how that would be a great reunion for riot fest to pull off

 

Maybe I’m getting old but how the hell do you guys have energy to go to an aftershow concert after being in the sun and crowds all day?

I’m 22 and I can’t even imagine doing that either...

The two times I’ve done aftershows, I’ve left the fest early to take a nap. Fortunately those happened to be days I didn’t care too much about the headliner anyway.

 

Last year I took a nap between sets at the festival. Woke up a whole new person.

 

This year I definitely want to bring a towel or something in my bag. I was relaxing on the hills by a couple of the stages and it would have been nice to have something to lay down on.

 

Doing all day last year on Saturday into the Flats aftershow, which ended at 2am, into all day Sunday resulted in actual dehydration and symptoms mimicking jet lag for the remainder of the week but it was worth it.

I will not be doing that this year lol

 

Definitely regretted it last year. Went for the Bayside/NFG aftershow and we were too tired to even stay for NFG so we left lol. An aftershow from here on out would have to be something crazy for me to even consider again tbh.

 

Aftershows are cool but they start too late especially after a full day at a festival. I know they start late because they have to, but also if I’m going all days of a festival I’d rather not be out at a show until 1 or 2 AM.

 

I definitely did it too hard last year. Aftershow all 4 nights and did 4am bars after lol

 

Aftershows can be useful to resolve set conflicts during fest. Last year on Saturday 4 bands I wanted to see were essentially playing at same time: Versus, Menzingers, Cap 'n Jazz, and Built to Spill. Caught Versus set, then most of Menzingers set at fest and went to Cap 'n Jazz aftershow on Friday and Dinosaur Jr/Built to Spill aftershow on Saturday so ended up catching sets from all 4 bands.

 

I know venues probably can't do it because of noise levels but it would be cool to have a 'breakfast aftershow.' A nice breakfast and coffee to go along with the show.
