It's almost like this loooooonnnnng period of waiting for "Palms" has made so many of us stir crazy and therefore resort to s#*t-posting, rather than discussing the album we could have already heard by now.

 

I mean I’m not saying mike should leave the thread either! He could just shut the fuck up every now and then (I mean this in the nicest way possible)

 

Your post was honestly fine until this part. This is where it gets real annoying and weird. Could have heard it by now if??? This is stupid entitlement.

 

Let’s just say for a second 9/7 was the earliest date they could release the record. If they announce it this week or 3 months ago what’s the actual difference?

Idk band threads for groups that haven’t released shit in years don’t resort to shit posting. We can talk about their extremely large discog, which we do sometimes, or, and this may be crazy, but we could just not post unless we have something of worth to talk about? There’s a whole site outside of this thread to post on

 

My post probably comes across as meaner than I intended but it’s just damn frustrating and annoying from my perspective

 

and when we do get stuff to talk about, like new singles, we get 20 mike posts over two pages convincing himself he doesn’t like it every time someone says they do like it

 

Do you guys understand you can ignore Mike's posts? It's really not hard. You just see his avatar, and scroll past it. Simple. You really don't have to keep complaining about him endlessly. The internet is not that hard.

 

If you say so. I'm just bored of bands announcing albums and then make you wait 2-3 months. The album is done, just drop that shit. It's 2018 FFS! We don't need the Pony Express to deliver the album anymore

 

I have Mike blocked. Though, I admit, I am also very liberal with the block button.

I come to this place for an escape, so if anyone even remotely makes it a more annoying experience, I’ll block them.

 

He also doesn’t have to post so much/in such an awful way

 

I dunno. All this is just text on a screen. Sure, the random ramblings may not be fun or funny to you, and same with the outcry that it's ruining the thread....but it is so simple to just scroll past what you don't want to read or block. I don't understand complaining on either side on any level.

I can't wait for this album though.

They need to make money. Which means marketing. Planning tours, etc.

Dropping the album immediately hurts them.

 

He has the right to post whatever TF he wants - just as you do. Get over it. Don't censor him because he annoys you. Ignore or block him.

I don’t care about the shit posts, but I think we should b able to argue against bad opinions on what the band should do.

 

I highly doubt if they released Palms this month rather than next that sales would be hurt at all. What marketing exactly are they doing? I've barely seen any interviews with them that are high profile, they aren't tweeting about them or anything.

 

Even if they announced it later, people would be in here crying for an album update. There’s no winning. The sense of entitlement is ridiculous and I truly don’t understand why it’s so difficult to wait a bit without posting absolute nonsense

As someone else said, bands need toake money to exist. Especially a small (in the grand scheme of things) band like Thrice, a proper planned rollout is extremely important to sales. They can't surprise drop an album and sell 200k copies like big pop stars can.

 

That part doesn’t bother me (the “talking to no one” element.)

I can infer what’s happening and just kinda move on. Not a big deal for me.

I mean, I visit this site from work now and then, where I’m not logged in, so I get exposed to posts from people I block. Sometimes I’m curious so I’ll go back and see what people were responding to.

 

Just as I thought, not everyone agrees with me on what text they should type into an online thread. I will make a post explaining how I will leave temperately but will be back later.

 

Idk personally it’s endlessly frustrating for me.

People who say “just ignore or block” also don’t realize that is far from a one size fits all solution. Congrats if it’s easy for you to ignore shit that bothers you. Some of us aren’t so lucky and people are never considerate about that.

 

I personally love how everyone goes in circles at least once a month on shitposting vs complaining about shitposting. It's always a funny read, not realizing both sides keep adding to it instead of just letting it stop haha. Everyone must feel validated though
