    Uproxx:

Today, EuroTrip – directed by Jeff Schaffer (currently a director and producer of Curb Your Enthusiasm), Alec Berg (executive producer on Silicon Valley), and David Mandel (showrunner of Veep); only Schaffer was allowed a full directing credit – is considered a cult classic, while Road Trip has largely been forgotten. And a huge reason for this is that EuroTrip had a secret weapon that even the filmmaker didn’t quite know they had at the time – a catchy song of betrayal that is played throughout the film called “Scotty Doesn’t Know.”

My friends and I still chant "Scotty doesn't know" whenever we happen to be near a cover band. Most of the time they have no clue what we're talking about, we still chant it anyway.

I can’t help but view this post as a personal affront.

Edit: I’d also point out that, adding to my misery, the actor playing the main character, Scott, is actually named Scott Mechlowicz in real life.

I was reminded of that a lot when this film first came out.

I still see those silly article on “actors you didn’t know could sing” they put Matt Damon in it from this. Makes me laugh. Great research.

Holy fuck I totally forgot he did that cameo until just now.

I don’t know about Road Trip being largely forgotten. At least my pals and I always quote it

I saw Sex Drive and Road Trip in the last year or so and could not stand them. Not taking shots at you guys, I wonder why Euro Trip does it for me. Just the time I saw it?

Yes. Always loved road trip. Peak Seann William Scott, and Tom Green when he had two nuts.

Eurotrip was good too, but definitely second place for me.

Road Trip is a lot of fun. I probably like that and Eurotrip evenly.

Tom Green screaming unleash the fury at the snake always makes me laugh.

    I had the same thought.

In my experience, Road Trip was the "bigger" movie and has more of a cult status now... maybe it's just because I've always been a huge Tom Green fan so that was just my perception.

Yeah Road Trip got a wider cinema release and had the bigger stars. A Tom Green at peak and SWS coming off some Stifler stints. Euro Trip seemed like the straight to DVD spin off (not to be a blight on it as it’s brilliant and I love both)

  22. No way. Euro Trip definitely is the cult classic of the two.
