Listening to Only Us, does anyone else hear a Radiohead "Burn the Witch" vibe after the first chorus ends? Part of the rhythm reminds me of that song. I dig!

The original Beggars art was amazing (the dinner scene).

I remember that I felt so bad about the leak of Beggars that I bought the record twice.

    That sucked so bad.

How early was the leak? Sounds like it had to be fairly early if it affected all this stuff...

It was supposed to come out in October and it was leaked near the middle of July.

    Basically 3 months early.

Album was scheduled to release October 13th, 2009, but the leak happened on July 20th.

So that released digitially on August 9th, and September 15th physical.

When KensBOOM sings, "Should terrify me," it's pretty awesome. (Right before the second pre-chorus/chorus)

Every single time I listened to Whistleblower, it becomes stuck in my head for at least 24 hours. Underrated Thrice song.

It's awfully strange going back to the older stuff and not hearing the rusty box bass. I didn't realize how much I had grown accustomed to it already.

By far the best out of any of the variations released. Remember being so disappointed after finding out it wasn't going to be used.

Do you guys think the screaming in Dustin's early career gave his voice the trademark rasp of his later career? Or, was it always going to happen with age?

I definitely would not be too surprised if it was through damage to his vocal cords and perhaps he developed nodules at one point. His voice sounds really cool and I love it raspy, but I do sometimes worry he's going to have problems in the future

It's interesting how Riley said they recorded more songs for this record than any record to date. And yet, only 10 made it on the record. So, we have some serious B-side action coming since they've recorded at least 13 on a couple of occasions.

Cue our inevitable outrage over a great B-side being left off the record. It wouldn't be a Thrice record without a couple great B-sides.

Where did he say that? And I think they recorded more songs for TAI...

Two elements count as one record (12). In any event, we have at least 4 b-sides coming.

I really dislike that they released TAI in 2 installments and count it as two separate records. They wrote and recorded them all together, the project together is called "The Alchemy Index." It's a glorified double record, OR 4 separate EPs. But certainly not two separate records. It's just the way it was released though, likely at Vagrant's say. Anyone else get annoyed by this?

Two records, but one release. Just released over the span of several months.

It's just semantics, but that's what helps me sleep at night.

Just a product of the time it was released. I’d guess they’d have just released all 24 at once in today’s world

Since we got 12 songs total on each release which is what we'd get on a normal album (well....10 by today's standards), I wasn't bothered by it.

It was smart move by them though, space out all that hard work and maybe get more money.

I understand why they did it from a marketing and $$ perspective, but the artistic aspect suffers IMO. I also remember they said they felt it would be easier to digest 12 songs at a time rather than 24 (which is odd since bands have been releasing double LPs with many many songs for over 50 years now, never heard fans gripe about that)
Now they suddenly have 10 albums when from an artistic perspective it's really 9. It bugs me! lol.

Coheed and Between the Buried and Me have also released double albums spread out across a few months. I’d prefer all at once and consider each half part of the same album but I can see it being easier to digest in halves.

@Mike J I'm legit curious to know what other bands do you like besides Thrice or is it Thrice all day every day?
