I didn't like no tears left to cry at first but it grew on me. Def wouldn't call it the best pop song of the year tho I also don't know what I would give that title

 

The only other track I would put against it is One Kiss, but I’m not as plugged in with the top 40 as some of you

Anyway the best pop song of 2018 is No Angel by Charli XCX

 

No Tears is my favorite song period of 2018, has been since a few weeks after it came out. And yeah No Angel isn't far behind.

 

Oh yeah, duh. I was thinking of more mainstream/radio pop.

Although, I think I’m Team Focus now.

 

it's confusing that Ari and Charli both have songs called Focus

 

I understand the impetus to compare this to Dangerous Woman but it's unfair because Dangerous Woman has an unreal number of bops, I don't know if she or anyone else can approach that
Pharrell doing the Migos interjections on the title track owns
when she said we out her vibing on No Tears Left To Cry she was describing how this album has a cool vibe
I definitely agree that less stands out but generally I like it

 

As bad as The Light is Coming is, somehow Successful takes the cake for worst song here. Sounds like a rejected Pharrell song from the Happy era.

 

Successful is so fun. Love the light smooth feeling it has.

Haven’t listened to the whole album, but I think I really, really like REM. Puts me in a trance listening to it and I can’t help but play it again once it ends.

The first two “real” songs on the album are utter garbo, though.

Liking anything less than Popular Song is just being overly dramatic

 

I'm finally listening to the back half of this, and I just realized that Goodnight and Go is an Imogen Heap cover! It isn't sitting well with me since I've probably listened to the Imogen version like a 1000 times back in the day, but still blowing my mind that she decided to cover it.

 

so apparently her last name is pronounced like Brandy but Frankie thought Grahn-day sounded funny because of course he did, also "I'm a fucking meatball" is amazing

 

I cannot get over her speaking voice. Is she trying to do that Paris Hilton fake baby voice thing for her brand? Because her normal voice slips in when she's joking around it's so weird I cannawt whhhy would someone do that on purpose unless they want to sound breathy and kinda dumb? Like it's one thing if it's your actual voice but like it's obv not her voice??? I am so perplexed lmao

I guess I'm used to popstars doing the baby breathy voice for their music but not rly for their speaking voice ?? Besides Paris Hilton (she counts as a pop star ok don't pretend yall didn't jam to stars are blind back in the day!!!!)
