If anyone is a college football fan (but in the sense that you realize how ridiculous it is as a whole) - I highly recommend Shutdown Fullcast. Every Day Should Be Saturday is a fantastic blog, but getting them together to make fun of...well everyone is just delightful.

Right now they're previewing every team by picking 5 randomly each week. This week they got Syracuse, Wake Forest, Purdue, Boston College, and Iowa State. They open the podcast by telling the listener not to even bother.

Not enough love for The Nerdist Podcast on here. Chris Hardwick is a really skilled interviewer and he always has the absolute greatest guests.

For video games, anyone who isn't checking out Funhaus on YouTube and their podcast, Dude Soup, is missing out. They're the old Inside Gaming crew from Machinima, if anyone is unaware. Their YouTube content is hilarious and their podcast is usually very good.

2019 edit: Just saw this post for the first time since I made it and yikes did it not age well.

Really enjoy The Nerdist pod. I only listen based on the guest though. Also the same with their Writer's Panel podcast.

Like I mentioned before in this thread almost all the podcasts i listen to are pro wrestling podcasts. My new favorite is Marty & Sarah Love Wrestling.

Marty DeRosa and Sarah Shockey two Chicago based comedians who are huge wrestling fans doing loose rundowns of what happened in pro wrestling that week with tons of improv, characters, and wrestler impressions laced in. It's almost like if Comedy Bang Bang just talked about wrestling.

It's so hilarious and heads and tails above the countless conventional wrestling podcasts that it's recently gotten writeups in AV Club and Splitsider, which for a podcast dealing with a topic 99% of people don't give a fuck about is pretty big.

I've been pretty into We Got This over the past few days. It's a show where two guys talk about really trivial matters, like pancake vs waffle, best kind of pasta, window or aisle seat etc. It's really easy listening and always a fun 50 minutes

  16. Don't usually listen to Nerdist but they had a great interview with Paul Dini recently, you should definitely check it out if you're a fan of his work.

Has anyone here listened to Bret Easton Ellis' (author of American Psycho) podcast? It's on iTunes and simply called Bret Easton Ellis Podcast.

He always has interesting guests and get's very, very deep when speaking on the industry of movie making, and Hollywood as a whole.

His voice is also the epitome of blankness. The inner monologue of Bateman during the bathroom scene in American Psycho HAS to be somewhat related to his own feelings about himself.

I'm interested in getting into podcasts more. I've only ever listened to Serial and Filmspotting sometimes. I'm looking for something really engaging, I don't know what area. I feel overwhelmed skimming through this thread. So many! I don't know where to start. And what's the best way to listen on an android phone?

I'm using Pocket Casts. I enjoy it a lot, but it costs a few dollars. Before that I was using Podcast Addict, which is free and it was fine

Yeah I use podcast addict and it works just fine. Probably paid ones out there with more features or a better UI but it's pretty good.

I'd say start with some of the super popular ones and then dig in a little deeper once you start figuring out what you like. I'd recommend Radiolab, Stuff You Should Know, This American Life, and Planet Money. Also star talk radio with Neil deGrasse Tyson if you're interested in space, planets, black holes, etc.
