i mean we've got an album title, we've got three pre-release tracks and two official singles, two music videos, a lot of well planned out marketing material in various forms....i dont see how anything is haphazardly done in this rollout unless slight changes of plans, which are extremely common and happen literally all of the time, counts as something being haphazard

  2. Try and go build an entire campaign that includes full videos/teaser videos/social media bits/fucking-billboards unintentionally.

Counter-argument: They accidentally hit “buy instantly” when browsing album rollouts on Amazon.

Full disclosure: this happens to me more than I care to admit when browsing comixology.

talk about messy rollouts, apple music accidentally put father john mistys entire album up for streaming when he announced it. the 1975 changing the release month and having a different album title is nothing.

LOL did they get sued for that? Or is it pretty much impossible to sue Apple?

I drunkenly buy shit with 1-Click more than I care to admit.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm very happy with my new silicon hot pads that were delivered yesterday.

Did you hear the Spotify Single that FJM put out today? There's a synth pop version of "Mr. Tillman" that sounds like it's coming straight out of 1986.

I didn't love it, but maybe you would lol. He does a cover of Gillian Welch's "Everything Is Free" that is honestly so good it should be on the album.

I'm not saying it's not intentional per say , but all of those things can be done in no time by a larger label and a good marketing team. All they really hard prior to the first single was posters and the online campaign.

They could simultaneously have a good campaign going and have a disorganized rollout you know. Those aren't mutually exclusive ideas. Single/ videos could have been planned in advance and originally was supposed to be realeased, but then the album was delayed for various reasons (a form of disorganisation)

A more organized rollout that comes to mind would be something like twenty one pilots.

I mean for Christ sake. Kanye is able to get much more stuff done in less time and his rollouts are the worse.

an album getting pushed back one month; still several months out, does not seem disorganized at all to me. like at all. it’d be way more disorganized to not give themselves enough time and rush out an album before it’s ready

This band has never really been a traditional band, and their marketing has never been traditional marketing. I don't think it's fair to say that an album rollout is disorganized or not done intentionally just because they didn't say "Our album is called this and it comes out on this day and here's the first single enjoy!"

  17. No they can't.

I do but it just plays the audio/picture

  21. I think the shifting release timeframe has perfectly played into the theme of the album. Their own misinformation / don’t believe everything you read on the internet campaign

Agreed. And I don't think it has to be like that either. There's more than one way for something to be organised and it not be the norm
