Gameshark reminds me of voices-era matchbook romance. Anyone else?

We reach for the longest shadow

Yeah I was super young and mad it didn't sound like their previous album, haha. Maybe I need to check it out again.

I remember thinking voices was decent a few years ago when I revisited it. I feel like I would like it more now with the way my musical tastes have gone tho, so I should probably listen again too

really mad at myself, mentalities like mine back then probably killed or stunted a lot of bands like..

if i had been a fan of the albatross as a kid I would have hated dealer just bc it was different, whenever bands I liked stepped out I wasn't super accepting.. I mean real young like 15 lol. Once i got into my adulthood I understood why bands changed their sound and evolved and I learned to appreciate and even prefer bands that did that... poor matchbook romance.. it was too late and the damage was already done.

I would like to thank this thread for reminding me that Monsters by Matchbook Romance exists. The eternal emo jam.

i was usually pretty receptive to bands overhauling their sound but sometimes it just did not work regardless of how you wanted to spin it. i thought bitemarks and bloodstains was a great single but despised the rest of say hello to sunshine, and i wasnt even that big on finch's first album either but thats an example of a change that was just not good. black earth tiger by emanuel was another one where it wasnt that they changed up their sound its that they just sounded bad.

Back in the day, it was American Idiot that really pulled me into Green Day. I would say that was the first band that I ever really became a big fan of. It wasn't until years later, after I kinda grew out of them, that I even knew that most Green Day fans hated that album.

You should check out the whole album, I absolutely loved Voices, still do.

Say Hello to Sunshine is definitely my favorite Finch album. Took me a few listens to digest it.

I'm re-listening to the album right now, I still love Voices quite a bit. Became my favorite MR album, was glad I got to see them live once after they released it, but everyone was there to see Yellowcard after them and didn't pay any attention but kept talking and were in my way. Sometimes it sucks to be a fan of the opener. Apparently they got back together in 2015, but two members including the lead singer left this year and they've been replaced.

Yeah that Matchbook Romance record was great really nice progression from the debut.

I wish Dan Nigro would release something new. After a decade off, doesn't seem like we'll get the chance, even though he appears to still be writing songs.

I did really enjoy the other band members’ endeavors as Kilimanjaro. That was some really great ambient jazz.
