Apparently the As I Lay Dying reunion tour is selling incredible well. Especially in Europe where they've upgraded to larger venues due to sell outs. Quite a few of the US shows are selling out too.

Of fucking course it is. What morals do people have anymore. Sigh.

That new Hate Eternal track is pretty gnarly. Exactly what I'd expect from their ilk.

Also lol holy shit that Cattle Decap story

Metalcore bros gonna get their core on because their favorite band is back. Societal implications be damned...but seriously, I really hope no band I like opens for them because that's basically complicit support for this entire charade.

    Europe ≠ Germany

AILD selling out shows in Germany isn't representive of the whole continent. Tim probably isn't even allowed in the UK.

I'm upset I missed Napalm Death's set last night but Testament and Anthrax both ripped. I've seen both bands MANY times before but they were both at the top of their game last night.

    NEW DODSRIT TRACK. YESSSS.

FFO atmospheric black metal with a nice infusion of crust and swedish d-beat, Deafheaven, Totem Skim, Tragedy.

A new track from a new band featuring members of Extol and The Dillinger Escape Plan (Liam specifically). This is weird in the best way possible to me...it sounds like a weird blend of Slayer, Death, and The Dillinger Escape Plan with Kate Bush style vocals. I don't even know what to put under the FFO tag because it's out there. Let's just say Employed to Serve, TDEP, and Svalbard? I'm probably off there, but check it out and see for yourself.

Lol was wondering why parkway drive was headlining then saw it was mostly a UK and Europe tour. Guess KSE doesn't have the same pull out there as they do here.

That London venue is over 10000 capacity. KSE would never have been able to play there at any point in their career. PWD has been huge in Europe for years.

^I actually think they have a pretty similar pull as they do over here. It's just Parkway Drive is huge over in Europe. They're also the highest level act currently announced for Wacken next year at the moment IIRC the news I saw earlier this week.

Yeah PWD is gigantic in Europe; probably one of the biggest metal acts playing there right now. These shows will be mega for KSE, with a new album out early next year. Opening for Iron Maiden, pulling in the older metal fans, and now opening for PWD, pulling in the newer metal fans.

I saw Batushka, The Chasm, and Suffering Hour last night. Suffering Hour was pretty solid...this was the second time I've seen them this year and they played a tight set, but they sounded a lot better at Maryland Deathfest. I'm gonna chock it up to where I was standing and the fact that the caliber of a sound system at a 400 cap club is going to be worse than one at a ~2000 cap room though. They play a pretty wild mix of death metal that sounds like has the dissonance of Ulcerate, but the riff chops of Morbid Angel. Check it out if you've never listened to it before:

The Chasm was up next, and they blew me away. If you're not familar with them, the Chicago-by-way-of-Mexico death metal band plays an awesome brand of riff-driven death metal with some thrashy and prog elements thrown in for good measure. Beyond that, I'm not sure how I can do them justice by describing them any further. Just give their debut album a listen and judge for yourself:

Batushka was...something else entirely. They were tight as all hell and put on an interesting performance that honestly felt like it could have been an Eastern Orthodox service with candles, tapestries, and incense if it weren't for the black metal and the sacrilegious imagery, but their performance was a bit underwhelming otherwise. Maybe I hyped it up a bit too much in my mind before hand, but I still hand a good time. They played their entire discography which is embedded below:

All in all, it wasn't a bad Thursday night. :)
