true but i mean there was a point where we had a Kanto event, a Mareep community day, and a Shiny Kyogre or Ho Oh pop up on top of the regular rotation legendary at the time, all overlapping at once. i would say the cat/dog thing going on counts but Niantic hasn’t even mentioned it and it’s a way, way less spawn heavy thing than water festival, adventure week etc

 

That’s true but I dunno, it’s been kind of quiet lately and the Eevee community day was a huge deal so I don’t think anything else will happen until after the trading event is over, plus there’s a big update that’s supposed to go down on I think the 20th. Then in September we’ve likely got Moltres day and the Safari zone stardust XP bonus so there’s a lot coming. I do hope you’re right but I don’t really see it happening.

With Niantic, there’s really no telling haha.

 

it’s insane how they have handled this summer so far. idk what they’re thinking. hopefully they ramp up in the fall to push Let’s Go.

 

Oh yeah I think we’ll see the bulk of gen 4 released within the next couple of months, and hopefully another meta relevant community day. I know people complain about Niantic and the game as a whole, but it’s really amazing how far the game has come since release. I think they’ve been doing an excellent job, this year particularly, with keeping people interested.

 

i agree, i’m really pleased with the game as a whole, but there’s not a lot of incentive to do... anything for the next three weeks. the interesting research tasks are incredibly rare this time, the egg pool is long overdue for a shake up. id be content if there were even Snubbull and Houndour everywhere. i like that formula.

 

Agreed, the lack of increased Snubbull and Houndour spawns was a missed opportunity. I’m just grinding for stardust now haha. Sitting in my car right now at a shopping center parking lot, listening to new Foxing, catching everything in sight.

 

Just evolved my three shinies that I don’t plan on walking. Got jolteon, flareon, jolteon. Got a little too excited when I got two different ones first. Too good to be true

 

Idk how I got so lucky but I evolved three Eevee’s to get one of each evolution with Last Resort, then did the same thing with three shinies and got one of each of the shiny evolutions.

 

Started walking my best (albeit not great) shiny Eevee so I can have a solid Umbreon. I have a friend who's gonna trade me one of his FIVE Flareons he got so I don't have to use my other two leftover Eevees until gen 4.

Edit: This community day was my least favorite next to Mareep.

 

just hoofed around the Capital area lookin for the cooler research quests... got nothin’ on that front but snagged my third shiny Swablu lol

I'll be over here waiting for a Ralts community day with a special Fairy quick attack move so that I can get a Gardevior that's actually useful against dragons.

 

I got 6 shinies, one of which was a 620 cp with strong IV. Pretty happy.

 

This made me feel better cause I got 7 with a slightly over 700cp strong IV as my best.

One girl in our slack group got 20....on Sunday alone.

 

I'm a pretty casual player to be honest, Saturday I only played for 10 minutes and yesterday was my birthday so I only played on my way to and from somewhere for an hour total, so I'm pretty happy with how it went :)

 

It’s always the casual ones that get all the good stuff.

 

My daughter started her account 3 days ago and got 8 shinys in the time it took me to get 2. I think you might be on to something

 

Oh yeah most definitely. I got onto a theory about it that I felt I kinda proved true to myself. If you stop playing for a bit, and then come back to the game after maybe a week or so, I think your login and location load triggers a worthwhile spawn or several spawns in a short time. I mean what better way to pull somebody back in?

It’s happened for me and several other players I know. Could be coincidence but who knows.

Ah, the mythical Fog has appeared.

 

I always forget there's foggy weather in the game. I've never seen it.

 

We get fog a lot by me, but I'm never willing to walk in it. lol

 

I've never seen it, my girlfriend saw it once - when it wasn't actually foggy.

Joined a local Discord and holy shit they have come up with a ludicrously complicated method of organising raids. (I'm used to Telegram, which has a nice setup, but there isn't one of those where my family live)

 

Discord was always a clusterfuck for me. I use it when I play in Albany, NY near where @Shrek works.

Slack is really sleek and efficient. the 3rd party apps you can install through it are great too. i'm able to post "Polls" where I can list out the Raid type and time in the headline, and then give time options that people click on and their username shows up beneath that time, or under N/A. Whichever time has the most responses for availability is the meet time. Completely eliminates the issue of getting everyone on the same page.

 

yeah Discord is a clusterfuck but it’s done a lot for my ability to get the most out of the game, some of those folks are very cool
