I just take that post to mean it’s probably coming this week. But this is probably the 8th week in a row I’ve been sure it’ll happen... but still

Oh yeah Gaslight didn't mention anything about coming back to Chicago anytime soon. They did complain about having to go to Buffalo on their day off yesterday though lol

Anyone ever get a busy signal calling the 1-888-WHY RIOT hotline? I've called once a day or so, always got through, always heard the same messages. Called at 9:35 et this morning, same thing. Called at 9:58 and it rang twice, then went to a busy signal. Called about 6 times since then, every time it rings once, then goes to the busy signal...thinking either a lot of people are doing what I'm doing...or they're in the process of changing the message... Only reason I'm really thinking that, is because when the line is busy, I'm usually used to busy signal right away, not ringing, then going to the signal. So, I thought maybe the answering machine is currently down...

Gaslight is 100% going to end their year at Stone Pony. I would be shocked if they did anything else this year after that

Dang, yeah, it does seem to be back up now, as I just dialed again and finally got through. Bummer, was hoping I caught it. Really spending too much time caring about this lineup...haha

Saves the Day tour dates leaked for November and Chicago's part of it, so they're out for Wave 2. :(

There's no band better at keeping things quiet about upcoming dates.

That being said, I do not believe Stone Pony will be the end of this run. Summer Stage only goes for so long. Brian has his acoustic tour that ends in California in October and I expect some west coast dates to happen since the furthest west they got was Chicago.

I would also expect them at Riot Fest not because they were always on the line-up but a plan B or C. I'm guessing at this point the second wave should have come out when they did the $99 tickets and it fell through for lack of funds or just a matter of negotiations. That third headliner is not going to be anything huge at this point.

im no longer worried about or expecting "huge", im just hoping for "fun & serviceable" at this point.
I would gladly take someone in the "maybe not quite headliner status but will do in a pinch" level like: weezer/ run the jewels / yeah yeah yeahs / rancid ... i could see ppl being disappointed by any of those, but id be stoked!

We are all in agreement that this is way way later than normal for final announcement?

Yeah, I'm anticipating at least two west coast dates from Gaslight before the year's end. There's no way they pass over California. Although, they could also be saving those dates for the start of 2019 (unlikely, but feasible).

All things being equal... Gaslight performing The '59 Sound would actually be a decent get as a third headliner. It would look good on the band's proverbial resume, probably reasonably affordable for the festival, and Riot Fest could promote it in such a way that they say "Hey, did you miss them on any of those dates that sold out in minutes? Come check them out here!"

Wouldn't blow anybody's minds, and probably might have a few people scoffing but... It would look good on paper and be decently well-received, I think.

I'm with you there as far as just hoping it's somebody "fun and serviceable." See above RE: the Gaslight Anthem too! I'm seeing that tour twice already, but I'd be down to see it in a festival setting!

Similarly, if we do wind up with some combination of Run the Jewels, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and/or Rancid? I'd be super stoked on that!

Rancid might actually make sense, given that they're doing a bunch of those Scallywag dates in late September/early October with Bad Religion (and Lars mentioned they'd be back in Chicago come Septmeber on Twitter at one point)... I could see Rancid and the Interrupters both getting added, actually.

If it's YYY or Rancid, I'd be very pleased. In fact, I've been holding out hope that ?????? is YYY ever since the first wave announcement (with Rancid somewhere on the bill as well).

There's no band I want less.

Pretty sure this is a record. I think the latest the final bands have been announced was like, late June? The schedule not being out now is normal. But not having the day-by-days and full list of bands is highly irregular.

One has to speculate this means... they're struggling to find a 3rd major get. Or in the eyes of a few...one major get. They set the bar too high previous years and I think they're either strapped for cash or have been denied their "ideas"

Are people still convinced by the SP theory? Even though they're playing two UC dates tonight and tomorrow you figure they could probably sell some people if they did a 25th anniversary show for Siamese Dream.

Haha I'm only joking because they were the ??? added in 2016 and that was a similar situation (where it seemed like something went wrong with the planned headliner that year). I enjoy them, but I would also be annoyed by this.

I've said it before, but I think this year's line-up is "fine." Blink-182 and Beck are decent headliners, and the rest of the bill is strong enough from top to bottom.

They just lack that one "surprise" act that people have come to expect from Riot Fest. And I'm thinking it's probably due to having been "denied their 'ideas'" as you put it, for one reason or another.

Frankly, though, and maybe I'm speaking out of turn but... I feel like most major festivals this year didn't have a particularly strong line-up. That is, it felt pretty "standard" across the board. The difference is that festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella book inherently mainstream acts that will draw no matter what.

I'm not convinced. I could see it being within the realm of possibility, but I would view this as a major misstep or act of desperation on the festival's part (meaning they didn't have any other options for a third headliner).

However, if they got them to do an album set like that? That might change things some in terms of draw, etc.

Im not convinced by either Pumpkins or green day, but would gladly take both, as they are both a step or 2 above the level of "fun & servicable" i mentioned earlier.
