so after 3 listens, I can honestly say I fucking love this song. I get chills on the screaming parts every time.. also the quiet second verse definitely makes the song.

    Today, a thousand years
    of strained affection and prayer
    “out beyond ideas
of right & wrong is a field”

    Will I meet you there?

    The summer garden blooms
    with autumn soon replaced
    another harvest moon---
    so many ways to lose
    so many faiths.

‘Holy to the LORD’ on the bells of horses,
safely on the shore, we sank like stones
to the bottom of a made up ocean

Standing on the lake shore, Julia,
    silent as a seashell Julia
magnet of the elk park Julia
laid down on the Temple floor
“Send a couple rats,” said Julia
I’d have done the same thing to you
Coffee and a milk, now Julia
who do you think needs who more?

In case your plan falls through
    to mispronounce my name,
[static between me and that Salafi, Yusef]
    to curse You-Don’t-Know-Who
    and bow before the same
[so was the scene at al-Aqsa,]
    I’ll meet you there.
[I have to admit, I loved the cut of his pant legs!]

another lovely afternoon for Sūrat al-Kāfirūn

‘Holy to the LORD’ on the bells of horses
Safely on the shore, we sank like stones
to the bottom of a made up ocean

calling it now "magnet of the elk park" is highlighted because its the album title

    I do not exist.

Speculation that Julia is a reference to 1984. Rats are also a symbol in the novel.

They did say the album had strong political themes.

upon googling "Sūrat al-Kāfirūn" i think it is a chapter of the Quran. this is the english translation of that chapter is called "The Disbelievers" saying:

    1. Say : O ye that reject Faith!
    2. I worship not that which ye worship,
    3. Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
    4. Nor will I worship those whom you have worshipped;,
    5. Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
    6. To you be your Way, and to me mine.

Also this is interesting in context of that Quran passage. Aaron mentions al-aqsa which seems to be an important islamic mosque in Jerusalem. Wikipedia says this about it:

"The mosque is located in close proximity to historical sites significant in Judaism and Christianity, most notably the site of the Second Temple, the holiest site in Judaism. As a result the area is highly sensitive, and has been a flashpoint in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.[2]"

also, on that picture they posted of the new song lyrics, that one line "magnet of the elk park" is highlighted; y'all think this means something in relation to the hidden password section on the website?

Greg is now the lead singer

    This song is so awesome.

Have they ever been this heavy and mellow at the same time? Really intense, but also really vibe-y?

Pale Horses was easily my favorite mwY album outside of Foxes (which has eternal nostalgia armor, so it kinda doesn't count), and I can totally see this new one being even better. When they almost lost me with it's all crazy!, I didn't imagine their best days were still to come.

I just really love this band, y'all.
