Lucero Band

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by DaydreamNation, Apr 1, 2016.

  1. A wonderful alt-country band with punk leanings from Memphis, TN. Ask five of their fans what their favorite Lucero record is and you'll get five different answers, but my personal favorite is 1372 Overton Park, where they really let the distinctly Memphis side of their sound go unchecked:

However, their earlier material has a more rough-around-the-edges charm to it and is also definitely worth a listen:

And finally, they put out a sadly mostly overlooked album last year that represented a bit of a change of direction but was nonetheless very good:

One of my favorite bands but I don't listen to them as much as I used to. Enjoyed the new record quite a bit, though. I wasn't a huge fan of Women & Work so the new one was a nice rebound.

The amount of love that I have for this band is insurmountable.

Incredible live performers, too. I just love them.

High praise, but I have to agree. I don't think anything they do will ever top 1372 for me though.

Been listening to Lucero a lot as I saw them over the weekend. Such a great and diverse discography. I'm glad I really dug into Among the Ghosts.

The title track and To My Dearest Wife are such great throwbacks to the Tennessee/Lucero era albeit with much cleaner production.

Threw on the new album while I was doing chores around the house today and ended up listening to it straight through three times in a row. Fantastic album.

I had fallen off after subsequent efforts couldn't recapture the magic of 1372 for me, but really liked this new one upon first listen. Almost a concept album about alcohol, it's cool to hear them dig into one theme across an album.

Yeah this new one’s great, I like it a lot more than When You Found Me. “Nothing’s Alright” is my favorite Lucero song in a while, that one hits hard as hell

The Bikeriders trailer has so many cool Easter eggs for the song, I was expecting a couple but that was really fun to catch them all.
