I know someone back from high school who still uses F****** and claims he's not talking about gays so its fine. Does anybody have any good articles about how that is lame? I'm not the best at expressing my thoughts through text so links might do better.

 

So in my law school moot court, we’re arguing a case about transwomen that largely parallels the Masterpiece Cakeshop gay wedding cake case. As just a minor factor in my argument, I want to elaborate on “passing” and to give a few examples to really nail the point into the court’s head (because real life examples often carry more weight than abstract legal arguments). I was thinking of using Laverne Cox and Buck Angel as examples, since they’re both recognizable public figures and are anything but androgynous.

However, I have to rely on written/verbal descriptions because exhibits (e.g. pictures) aren’t allowed. So this is a roundabout way of asking if anyone knows of some source I could quote that describes either of them in detail? An outside source, like some cover story of a magazine, would carry so much more weight than if I simply described them myself.

 

Every other day I read or see something on the news about attacks on LGBT people in the streets and it freaks me out. I hate how internalized my "straight" behavior has become, in order to be perceived as an actual human being by others, and how difficult it is to unlearn it unless I'm all by myself. I should be able to show off my feminine side anywhere without feeling like someone's going to harass me or worse.
