Somebody on a Facebook thread I was privy to today said that "people are saying the last headliner will be Green Day playing 'Dookie.'" I pressed more, and it turns out... We're the "people" who have been "saying" that. :-)

The Internet is a wild place, you guys.

They posted something about the Simpsons/Riot Fest acts who had appeared there in the past... I'm still not convinced that it's anything beyond somebody on staff like, re-watching the entire series because they recently purchased a Blu-Ray boxed set or something. Haha.

On July 30th they said it will be the last day of the $99 tickets one week later they are still at $99 and I find that weird. Even more when a couple of days before that tweet they said they were almost sold out

I think the $99 tickets still being on sale is the biggest nail in the coffin for them having a major headliner waiting to be announced. Green Day doing Dookie or an Op Ivy/REM reunion would sell tremendously at even the highest price and they wouldn't need to bother with it.

Yeah, my impression is that they’ve been extending the $99 to encourage more people to buy tickets before they’re disappointed by the 2nd wave and ultimately decide not to go.

Haha I’m just skeptical we’ll get a big name this late in the game.

I'm just going to go ahead and throw the towel in again this week. Keep getting excited for 11am EST / 10am CT and this type of stuff just happens

Somebody on Reddit posted an article from the Chicago Sun Times stating that they were "on track" to match attendance from the last few years, following the ticket reduction and free ticket give-aways. But there's no quotes from Riot Fest or anything in that piece so I'm going to take it with a grain of salt...

So yeah, I don't know that we're getting a headliner this year. This just feels like they had a "weak" line-up, but want to at least keep attendance up.

And that word "weak" is in quotes, because well... This isn't a weak line-up. It just lacks that one "holy shit" act. And I don't think we'll get it. But I still have hopes there'll be a few acts in the undercard that get me super excited. Last year, I remember, the one addition i was ecstatic about was Radar State (who played at like, 2 on the side stage on Friday) and that was a great add for me... So... Yeah. We'll see. Maybe. Someday. Sometime.

Saw a new email from Riot Fest, got excited, opened it to find a digest full of old news and nonsense.

Not really the email I was looking for after being told to pay attention this week (as if I haven't been paying attention for weeks/months already).

TGUK just announced a Chicago show in Nov

I don't know about you guys but for every day that there's no update i'm just losing interest. If their strategy is for people to care less and then announce an underwhelming second wave that people would be indifferent to then they are doing an awesome job.

For now, i'll just wait for the aftershows announcement.

No offense to anyone personally, but I think everyone is so dramatic about things not being announced yet. Not just on this site, but all over. If you don't like the lineup already, second wave is probably not going to change it, and if you do like the lineup, then the second wave is really just bonus acts. Don't get me wrong I'm definitely anxious for it, just don't get why people are actively upset or losing interest because of it.

It's a pretty fucking weak lineup.

For me it's going to be the deciding factor of whether i'm going to go or not, since right now i probably have about 7-8 acts only i would actually pay to see over there.

Also, at least for me, after waiting anxiously for the Warped lineup to be revealed and getting an average one (at best), i don't want to get my hopes up too much.

I plan to give my cousin my single-day ticket if he's able to go. He wants to go see Spitalfield. It would be kinda rad to know when that is, so he can figure out if he can indeed go.

And I would really like to know the third headliner. It's been a long tease.

I'm not on the fence about going (buy tix every year in Nov) and I'm happy with first wave, but hoping to clarify my cousin's situation with adequate lead time hardly seems melodramatic.

Just curious, what is a strong lineup considered to people? For me, the headliners are cool but I’m mostly excited for the lower part of the lineup. The third headliner isn’t really a make or break for me or my friends at this point.

Give me, like, a dozen bands I'm excited to see over the weekend, as well as a few bands to check out when I'm taking breaks, and I'm content. I have 20-25 bands already that I'm down to see, so there's already more than enough for me to see. I just like keeping the momentum going with more bands, daily line-ups, aftershows, etc, and I feel like it's taking longer than expected.

Haha yea I get that. I actually had a sentence typed that I was more anxious about the day by day lineups than the 2nd wave. I definitely get being frustrated by lack of single day information. I'm more talking about people who are up in arms because an extra 10(?) bands haven't been announced.

This is about where I'm at with it. Part of what's appealing to me this year is that there's a healthy amount of bands I'm really excited to see, and a bunch that I'd like to see if I can...

The flip side is that the line-up is incredbily stacked and people are griping about set conflicts.

I'm cool with a lacking lineup because I should actually be able to see everyone I want to and take breaks

I'm already way more interested in this year's lineup than I was last year's, but knowing how that went for me (ended up cancelling last minute after seeing the dailies) I can get why being in this position is frustrating.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

I'll just buy single day tickets/hit up a few aftershows once everything is announced. There's nothing mind-blowing on this year's lineup, but there's enough bands across the board for me to have a good day out of it. It's just a matter of what aligns for my interests and also realizing that Friday is out because this isn't a lineup worth taking a day off of work for at the moment. Adulthood is fun.

    Whatever. Forever.

More worried about single days since I can only go Sunday. Still a fan of the lineup though.

I’m already satisfied with the lineup. But since I’m traveling across the country for this festival, I’d really like to know who the 3rd headliner is (I had high expectations).

As for those complaining about the lineup being broken into daily lineups, RF is still on time in that department! According to someone’s post on Reddit, they have historically released that on Aug 10th, Aug 30th, and Aug 19th the past few years.

EDIT: Actually, I think those dates are for the actual schedules of each day. We’ve definitely had the lineup broken up by day earlier, along with the on-sale of single days.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

I think those were the dates the actual schedule was announced, not just daily lineups. We’re way behind this year.
