Yeah I'm in Southern NH and this heat wave is insane and so uncommon for us. The humidity is unheard of and I know a lot of people who never use ACs in the summer are finally caving into them. The tornado warning on Friday actually ended up being a good thing because the weather finally somewhat cooled off for that night only

Not a great time for me to have all leather seats and no AC in my car

 

I personally think it's fucked up that the cost of air conditioning is tied to how much you use it

 

It's been 90 and so humid I have constant headaches for like a week straight in New York

 

I normally love the heat. We spend so much of the year in the cold that I always welcome it with open arms. The humidity the past few weeks has been oppressive though and I’m starting to struggle.

Unfortunately I don’t know if people will really associate it with climate change. Once winter comes they’ll say “if the world is warming then why is it cold out?!”

Yeah that's the problem with using a heat wave and linking it to climate change. Once winter comes around and there's a period of really cold weather they'll take note of that and be like "where's this global warming now?".

For that reason when there is a heat wave, or a strong hurricane, or something along the lines of that, I avoid trying to say it's proof of climate change. It's all about the trends. One heat wave isn't climate change, but when the heat waves are prolonged and are occurring more often, that's climate change.

 

I personally don't want to subsidize fools keeping their houses so cold they gotta wear long sleeves indoors during the summer. When resources are free to use they tend to get abused.

Most electric co-ops have programs where you can donate a set amount per billing cycle or 'round up' your bill and donate that amount to families who need financial assistance in paying their bill. The US HHS also provides block grants that go toward programs to subsidize low-income families who need assistance with heating and cooling.

Once all of our houses burn down at least once, we might start paying attention to the issue.

Conservatives sarcastically (or unwittingly) coming up with popular / good ideas is one of my favorite sub genres.

 

Them walking into admitting these cesspools are "conservative" is my favorite little aspect as well.

When people ask me, "Why do you think conservatives are racist/bigots/etc." ... the answer is: BECAUSE YOU ADMIT TO BEING RACIST/BIGOTS ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
