I’ve never cared if I liked or didn’t like a video from a band.. liking the video is just a bonus..

My biggest question is why are bands still making music videos in 2018?

But are people actually watching the videos as they listen?

Usually it’s just something to stimulate them

I still love music videos and go down hour long rabbit holes at a time daily haha.

The Grey is a fine video, their music videos have never been as great as they could be. You would never know how hard they rock live from the music videos that feature band performances because they are all mostly poorly edited. Missed opportunity :tear:

I can’t tell you the last time I even watched a music video haha. Probably back during the good ole’ “pop-up video” show.

I assume they're just listening in the background while doing other stuff.

I still enjoy music videos... or at least well-made ones. I think a great video can be an amazing complement to a song. Every once in a while a video will be so great that I think of some imagery from it when I listen to the song separately. I used to be a film major though, and the marriage of narrative storytelling and music imo can be a very powerful art form if utilized well.

I love music videos and I’ve always feared that one day they will be kind of a lost art.

Castles High, Marble Bright by Caspian is one that comes to mind for me. I can’t listen to it without picturing some of the video.

Caring more about a music video more than lyrics is a pretty big hot take haha

Please don't misquote me. I do not care if I like the lyrics from a band or not. Give me great music and strong melodies. If the words are good, that's a bonus.

I never once said I prefer music videos over lyrics.

That’s not that weird of a thing tbh, everyone has personal preferences for what’s most important to them in music. You may not agree but damn, calling those preferences “hot takes” is pretty silly. (I’ve made similar statements about lyrics a number of times on the site.)

The hot take was that he seemed to care about music videos more. When quoting my post it’s insinuated that his feeling on lyrics is how I feel about music videos. Which he seemed to care about since he made 2-3 posts about how the grey video bothered him.

to me that seems odd bc ive never really cared about music videos, obviously others felt similarly.

Now that he’s cleared it up though the whole thing doesn’t matter.

I don’t think that implication was there, but who cares even if he does value music videos more than lyrics
