Opens the doors for Toby (and Martial???) Spurs deal.

 

Games come thick and fast in The Championship. That's how it's always been.

 

I have no idea actually - just assumed everyone was playing! Maybe it's something to do with policing? Or money? Looks like everyone else plays their 'extra game' on the 21st & 22nd August.

 

But it's only two games - the rest of the teams play the 'extra game' on the 21st & 22nd. Quite odd.

 

I still don't get how Zaha is rated at £75 million. Can't find the article now. I do rate Zaha, just not that highly.

Middlesbrough and West Brom play the Friday of that week, guess they were moved due to that. There's cup games next week so it had to be this week.

You have to wonder just what the hell is going on at Spurs. Is there a reason Spurs haven't bought anyone, is it cause they're skint because of the new stadium? You'd think if they were they would have tried to sell a couple of players to fund moves. It's really odd.

 

I really don't know what's happening. I don't think there is turmoil within the club or anything dramatic. Though, there could potentially be if we don't sign anyone and then have a bad season (don't necessarily think no signings leads to a bad season). And I'm not sure the new stadium has put the team in a tight budget situation. The talk before the window did not indicate that at all, but I suppose things could have changed.

The only obvious reasoning I see is that most of the team's targets are being overvalued by their current clubs due to today's market. Villa reportedly want 40m for Grealish. Palace want 75m for Zaha. Ajax want an ungodly amount for de Ligt. United won't sell Martial to Spurs, and if they did it'd be an enormous price.

Kovacic is apparently sitting out of Real's training in hopes of a transfer. He has been a target for the last two windows. I'm hoping Levy steps up and makes a strong effort for him since the club is pretty desperate for a signing right now. Grealish could still happen as well.

 

Looks like we're signing Bernard, a free-agent previously of Shakatar Donetsk.

Aren't Tottenham always a bit last minute / a bit cautious with summer transfers? At least that's what I remember from previous seasons.

I think it's very dependent on Rafa. If he sticks around and gets the team to unite, then I think we'll stumble to mid-table. However, I can also see this season being a complete cluster fuck if Rafa throws in the towel. If he goes, the players are going to stop playing and the fans are going to go super nova.
