yeah I just cancelled. Basically this thing is now only good for eticketing, and if you've seen all the good ones at those theaters... yeah

I can pay out of pocket/visit a discount theater until the holidays. May even redbox a movie or two.

    Fun must be always. Prestigious

movie theatres just opened right now and every movie has peak pricing and most showings I wanted to see are gone.

they really do run on east coast time.

they're clearly going the "Gym membership" route until it goes down. They're purposely now trying to make this thing impossible to use (aka they dont lose money)...and they'll make money on people forgetting to cancel and what not.

They dont want you to use it. It's that simple

Canceled a couple days ago. 'Twas fun while it lasted.

If I lived closer to an AMC, I'd get their subscription service. I wish Cinemark didn't have a crap service.

I was just thinking the same thing. Or get membership down to a manageable level. I don't know if that is even possible but it definitely seems like it is hard to use now. I haven't tried in almost 2 weeks due to my own schedule but I really wanted to use this on Eighth Grade this weekend!

Imagine a gym that only let you go at 10 am and you couldn't use the treadmill

I think what happened with moviepass is obvious. The plan all along was to try and partner with a major theater or a movie studio or make enough in advertising to make it worth it. Get as MANY people to subscribe as possible and then use that as leverage to theater chains and movie studios.... but it didn't work. AMC said "fuck we'll just do our own" and everyone else just laughed at them because they had no leverage ever.

I think at this point they're trying to cut their losses and recoop what they can by getting people to not use it...and having people forget to cancel etc.

Plus trying to show that e-tcketing theaters get a spike in attendance with moviepass. MAking moviepass limited to just eticket theaters

haha true... but the concept is that billions of people get gym memberships and they never use it/forget to cancel. EAsy money for gym chains

Everyone has those powdered flavor shakers for the popcorn, right? That stuff is really good and probably terrible for you.

Hopefully, things change before my annual plan is up (though things have seemed to get worse every month). There's an AMC about 25 minutes away from me, so maybe I'll try that. I wish Cinemark's plan didn't suck in comparison because there's one of those about 5 minutes away from me.

Does anyone have experience with Sinema?

The pricing for Senemia or whatever is basically what it costs me if I see a matinee so not really worth it

Yeah, randomly while browsing the app I got a notification to be put on a wait list for what I’m assuming will be a trial run, and now my app has a little indicator saying I’m on the wait list for it. I think I remember it mentioning bring a friend and special screenings as supported featured as well when I joined the waitlist.

Sinemia is also being less than forthcoming with the fact that they're no longer issuing debit cards. You can still do cardless check-ins, but there's a convenience fee every time. There are workarounds (including through Facebook), but...

yikes. Okay, no thanks. I'll probably end up switching to AMC and driving a bit further or settling for Cinemark. The one thing I do like is the 20% off concessions with the Cinemark plan. You can also get discounted tickets for friends, but I almost always go to movies alone, so that's not a huge selling point for me.

I saw Eighth grade last night and am now ahead $1.01 for the month. I’ll stick with it for now and see what happens.
