Foxing channeling Blood Brothers is a very welcome twist

 

I don’t really like the new one

 

this is where I'm at with the song. I think its a cool lets go wild 4 minute song, that placed in the right context of an album I could enjoy/digest. But i don't think I would like an entire album explored of mostly that sound.

I don’t think I could pick, but if I had to I’d probably say Slapstick, just cause I feel like I’ve formed a connection with the song listening to the live version for what feels like a year now.

 

New song is wild. Love it. Album is gonna be special if everything else is as good as these singles

 

I’m still trying to form more concrete things to say about several songs on here, but I’ll just start by saying that Chris Walla’s production is absolutely immaculate. This is one of the best-produced emo albums I think I’ve ever heard... all the disparate sonic influences feel like they fit together absolutely perfectly, and the huge expansion of Foxing’s sound sounds not only natural, but inevitable because his production makes it feel so fluid.

 

This is definitely going to be a strong AOTY contender for me. I’m at that point where I’m still in my initial awe of so much of the album, so I don’t feel like I can have much to say with any sort of “objectivity” yet. But wow... this is really something.

 

Man I really hope this streams Monday or I get my records early. At least I’ve got a Manchester show Tuesday to speed up the week.

Edit: Waiting till Thursday would make it reall special though, so I’m not complaining either way. Just filled with endless hype.

 

If everything y'all are saying is true, it's truly wild for a band to make "the jump" twice. Dealer was really next level, and this appears to be next-next level.

 

At this point im pretty sure Dealer is a top 10 album all time for me

 

i love it, but I need to be ready to take it in.. and when I do its amazing. Idk, I think its still growing on me to do this day. I also prefer it on late night drives for some reason, I'm not sure why. I think they did an excellent job streamlining a specific sound for that album and dialing it in. Every song feels like it fits perfectly with the others, I just can't play it all the time like some of my other favorite albums.

Late pass:

just listening to Gameshark now for the first time. With the Blood Brothers stuff thrown out i think i was expecting this track to be a little heavier, but his vocals deeeeeeeeefinitely remind me of like "Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck" type vocal deliveries of Johnny Whitneys. I almost wished he took it to the next level at times while listening to the track though and just started screaming his face off, but it was so dope still.

Super cool song, 3/3 for singles so far.

 

How can you even have an opinion on a song that came out so long ago?

I have a feeling we'll get at least one more song before the album drops. There are supposedly four episodes of Nearer My Pod, and the two episodes currently out provide insight into "Slapstick" and "Nearer My God" respectively. Additionally, the three singles so far have each pictured one of the horses from the album cover. All we're missing is the black horse with the green bridle.

 

Nah one of them is going to be based on the whole album
