If you're going to quote me and say something like that, be forward instead of intentionally vague.

OK, positive net impact on the world.

$1 million trust fund for my one kid to have an easy life or $1 million to charity to make countless people's lives better.

Saving a little to provide security for your kids is fine, hoarding millions to give to trust fund kids who offer know value to society and only exist as leeches on their parents’ fortunes from exploiting others is uhhh, clearly different and very bad. Also hugely hypocritical to the work requirements, earn your way, no handouts republican crowd. Socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor.

You're changing the subject of what they were saying. Their post was about themselves or friends putting money and time towards their kids college or a trust fund for them and you made a leap to $1 million. The implication that the original people we were talking about weren't millionaires.

But anyway, no they didn't say saving for your kids college is bad. They were very clearly getting at the impact of those dollars going one way or the other as well as the feeling of guilt that might arise when consciously thinking about where your money is going. Yeah, my kid can afford school but someone else's kid is starving to death and I could fix that with the money that is going to my kids school.

Kids starving or my kid being able to afford something that should be free anyway.

not to throw a pity party but I could use whatever love anyone can send my way, I know I was acting kind of crazy in this thread recently and a lot of it can be chalked up to the fact that about two weeks ago I relapsed and haven’t been able to quit successfully since then. I’m coming clean to my parents and psychiatrist today to figure out my next steps but right now I just feel overwhelming shame and guilt and need to know people do care about me because sometimes I get the feeling I’m alone in all this and that just makes it all worse. Sorry to derail and make this all about me

People who say shit like that are lucky they've never dealt with addiction themselves or to anyone close in their life.

    It's tough as hell.

Good luck, man, you got this.

So gross. So, there's a local restaurant that tried to give an incredibly misogynistic contract to a female employee after she complained that she feels unsafe due to sexual harrassment from an ex who works there and a fellow coworker, and the owner specifically said the contract was for her and nobody else. Rules include:

    - her not being allowed to talk to people about anything non-work-related
    - she cant come in off-work hours for too long and is only allowed 2 drinks
    - she can't come in with a man who she has romantic interest in, and if it seems that she has romantic interest in him, even if she really doesnt, it's grounds for her to be fired
    - she has to pretend she never dated the ex and isn't allowed to tell other coworkers they had a relationship.

And a bunch more. It's kind of gone viral here and Facebook reviews have tanked from nearly 5 stars to below 4. Now, they posted on their wall that they got a lawyer and are going to sue her for defamation.

This shit is disgusting and I really hope they don't get away with this blatant sexism.

My mom was addicted to meth for 6 years, from the time i was 10-16. The love in our family is what got her through it, as my dad never waivered. It took him moving away to see if she'd follow, which she did, and our family has been sober 16 years as of last month. You are normal, you are loved, you are strong, and you WILL get through this. It doesn't happen over night, and make sure you are surrounding yourself with those that bring out the best in you, and that show you unconditional support. That might only be 1 person, it could be 50, but based on our quaint interactions on this site, i can tell you are a solid person, that feels comfortable to open up to all of us in here, and we ARE here for you.

(there's a much bigger story to my family, but i wanted to keep it brief...happy to discuss further if it helps)
