I’ve always preferred the first album roll out to the second. The second has some solid songs though but I was never fond of UGH! and Love Me.

This album cycle though is 2 for 2, loving both songs a lot and I think the lyrics in particular are a massive step up. The whole ‘believe in yourself’ more vibe is dope.

Yeah I’m more confident in these songs than I was in ILIWYS, but after listening to the full album ILIWYS blew me away, and the singles had much more context and I adore them now.

I think they’re going to keep a cohesive pacing, but Matty did say this album is more all over the place. I trust them completely tho

I listened to UGH! like 37,000,000 times before the album came out, I’m already doing the same with these two as well lol.

I wanna hear that tropical vibe song that is going to be on this album.

I thought UGH! was unbeatable for a while but now...

I was pretty content on a messier/louder/angrier first record and a fluffier/poppier second outing but it seems like both records might be all over the place stylistically again.

Might still be that way. Makes sense they’re recording the second one in LA, saying that it’ll have a “clubbier” feel

Well a jazz number and an island type song do not fit the angry mold lol

  10. "Woman" is such an overlooked song. The guitar on it is gorgeous.

Woman is one of the (very) few 1975 songs I just can’t seem to get into. Something about Matty’s delivery just doesn’t work for me

For sure. Pretty sure they used a ton of spring reverb, which I’m usually not a fan of but they use it so well.

I’m obsessed with spring reverb. So drippy and bouncy.

I do love reverb when used right, just usually prefer hall or another type over spring.

I use all different kinds of reverbs. I prefer plate for vocals and guitars. Synths always go for a hall sounding reverb.

Spring only sounds good in certain contexts but it has a unique unmistakable sound sometimes for better sometimes for worse.
