Haha. I found it disappointing too. To me, it was super under developed. But I still found it entertaining. It was a brisk movie that moved along quite well for me, but I was definitely asking why all these extra plot points were left unresolved or meaningless.

I had such high hopes and didn’t really read any reviews just because of the crew involved. That may have been a mistake... I’m just so glad I didn’t pay for it. The whole thing was needlessly cruel and didn’t seem to know if it wanted to be just a straight up gorefest or satire or thriller. And I love John Gallagher, Jr. with all my heart so disliking anything he does hurts.

It made me want to rewatch Exam though. That was a random find on Netflix years ago that scratched the same itch waaaaaay better.

Oh nice, I haven’t heard of that. I’ll check it out. The obvious comparison in my mind, as mentioned earlier, was mayhem. I think it’s a fun premise with a lot of potential.

Don't know if this info is out there already but Unfriended: Dark Web has two different endings. It will depend on which one your theatre is told to program.

could be fun- people who really like the film could drive to another venue to see the other ending.

or, because this is 2018, people will just spoil it online and someone will inevitably record it and post it.

But the public wouldn't know which theater is playing which version would they? But yeah, it will be online pretty quick anyways haha.

yeah i'd be pissed if if i drove 2-3 hours away and found out it was the same ending - at the ending lol

curious if this works though - if this works or makes a bunch of money, i feel like "first week different ending!" type gimmicks could start up. kind of like how videogames have DLC or extras for preordering or whatever? would suck if film started going that route. "see the LIMITED EDITION ENDING THIS WEEK ONLY!"

If Clue couldn't start the multiple ending renaissance, I doubt Unfriended: Dark Web will

  18. This looks so fucking cool. As much as I’m a Cloverfield fanboy I’m very glad he decided to use this script for something else

Not exactly horror, but I think this fits in the thread (the director did mention that it was a zombie film without the zombies): 'BuyBust': Film Review

I think it’s going to get a US release first week of August, but I’m particularly curious how it will be received internationally.

Sort of a drug bust gone wrong and based on interviews it’s nonstop action from start to finish (similar to The Raid). I can vouch firsthand that the slums of the Philippines are pretty scary but I’m intrigued if they can translate that experience to the big screen.

Edit: It’s also releasing on Netflix by the end of August.

  20. My brother was kind enough to grab me the Criterion release of The Brood, which I am very excited to watch, and I also grabbed The Friday the 13th 1-8 collection, so you guys can lookforward to my upcoming reviews of random seques in the franchise. lol

Also The First Purge was a minority-led wide-release about low-income communities fighting against state-sponsored racism and genocide. It fuckin ruled

The Brood is great, i wish the criterion release were a little more feature heavy but it's certainly a trip into cronenberg's post divorce mind lol

I finished A Quiet Place. I knew nothing about the plot going in and only watched it because I heard it was good. I was pleasantly surprised.
