When the stacked harmonies kick in on "MADE IT" at 3:20 I get maaaaaaaajor "Pressure" vibes.

It honestly goes back to the convo we all had earlier in this thread about reading the lyrics before having the song. These phrases that seem somewhat trite and overzealous on paper(? lol) sound so good because Matty has the passion and theatricality to sell it.

Still don't know how I feel about sing/shouting "I MOVED ON HER LIKE A *****" (and there's no way in hell I'll ever sing along to "suffocate the black men"), but the rest feels good in context. I particularly like the Kanye line now. To me, it's a commentary on how conservatives rail against entertainers in pop culture but drop that stance at the first chance that one of the entertainers might be in their corner.

like i said i think the delivery of "i moved on her like a bitch" is perfect, matty sounds angry and disgusted and conveys that perfectly through his tone of voice when singing it. agreed on probably not singing along with it, but from a purely analytical standpoint, the line works and is pulled off very well. which i did not think it would be, but i should know at this point not to doubt matty's singing and writing.

I hope they become so big to the point where he gets knighted so we can call him Sir Matty

Agreed 100% just not going to sing it. I'm sure it would even be fun to sing, but I don't really want that to be a natural instinct of mine.

I’m afraid that the album will be truly brief.

You can literally hear Matty snarl and spit out the "moved on her like..." line, there's no respect there, it's savage and 100% perfection

you know i say now im not gonna sing along but i wonder if in the moment i'll scream it along with everyone else in the crowd. idk. with the context and knowing the intention of the line im not sure it would feel so bad.

and ive sang along to much, much worse lines in other songs so we'll see haha. its a weird, weird line that probably shouldn't work but somehow it does because matty is matty.

who knows how many tracks there will be, but i really can't imagine the album's run time being under an hour.

i love how give yourself a try and love it if we made it are two different sides to the band. give yourself a try is super bare bones while love it if we made it is a huge bombastic track. safe to say the album will be stylistically diverse

couldn't be happier that matty keeps rewriting my favorite songs (this : "downtown lights" :: "paris" : "only you")

I honestly am hesitant to say it, but it’s actually somehow one of my favorite moments in the song. It’s chilling.

These first two songs remind me of the EPs in their precision. They are so good at building a whole world in a song. I come back to songs like "Me," "Undo," "fallingforyou," etc. because they give me a sense of place and a moment in time. Even this song, which has so much going on lyrically and sonically, feels like a vignette, an outburst happening in the moment.

And I agree with those saying Matty's great at evoking the meaning of his words through his vocal style. My favorite example of this is "sun drowns the house" from "Undo" -- the vocals and music sound exactly like the image the lyrics convey.

The primary synth line on Me is an entire universe as far as I'm concerned. Absolutely agree
