This is sooo good. I feel like Teppei is usually the one who hits the high notes in the choruses, but Dustin kills it in this.

Those violins are quite out of tune tho.

with dustins voice now, better production, and their musicianship it would be really really sick. can't deny that

not saying I want them to regress, just saying that if they wanted too, I'm sure they could do it very well

'Artist' continues to be my least-favorite thrice record as well as the one I've listened to the least.

"The Abolition of Man" is the exception, of course. I do miss Teppei's demonic lead parts a la 'Avenge' and 'Abolition.'

It’s my fourth favorite. It may sound dated but it does the sound of that era better than most albums in the style from that time. It holds up as a relic of its time.

I'll take Illusion and Identity over Artist any day of the week.

my people! Artist falls apart majorly in the second half, bar the title track, imo

  18. You couldn’t pay me to listen to Identity Crisis in 2018. That’s easily their worst. It barely counts as an album.

My sentimentality gets the better of me. 'Identity' ruled at a time when there was virtually no frame of reference (as far as Thrice). 'Illusion' then set the scene on fire. These records also arrived at the perfect time as I was already starting to veer outside of punk rock and into metal/heavier music.

I'm sure I'd feel differently if I heard 'Artist' before these two records, but 'Artist' just didn't click at all with the exception of 'Abolition.' I thought it was hollow (and still do). I still remember the feeling of disappointment like it was yesterday.

Of course, 'Identity' and 'Illusion' don't hold up nowadays. But, I can't change the fact that when I listen to them, I'm transported to a very specific time in my life –– a time where I began to follow a local band that would end up being my favorite band for the next two decades.

I really dislike the closer, and Melting Point of Wax/Blood Clots just have some of their most repetitive and least creative songwriting. there's still stuff I like in there but it's a huuuge dip from the first half to me lol

Wow not feeling this page of opinions. Artist is way better than both albums than proceed it, and the second half of it is much better than the first.

I believe the word you were looking for was precede – unless you're saying that 'Artist' is better than Vheissu and TAI.
