Carpathia and EMG are the clear stand-outs imo. Where My Mouth Is has grown on me a lot over the years. Adam’s lyrics really make the song.

On the other hand, never been able to get into Catholic Knees.

Isn't that every album? I've never seen a band that people agreed less on a song-by-song basis lol

I never knew these three tracks existed: Winter, Didn't See and Long Time. Just listened to them all, they are all pretty good.

Sink Into Me is awesome, but if you are going to switch it out, you can't do it with Winter, its too slow for the 2nd track my dude. You need another upbeat one. Switch Winter for Long Time.

the "sink into me" riff rules so much. the chorus lets it down a little (not very much imo, i'd keep it on the record)

The 4 C song run is the weak point of the album but I like Cut Me Up way more than most. Catholic Knees is one of my least favorite TBS songs.

Also I love Sink Into Me’s video

Removing "Where My Mouth Is" is insane to me lol it's like top 5 on the album for me. Wayy better than Long Time Coming, Lonely Lonely, Catholic Knees, Summer Man, and Cut Me Up.

That being said, it's not a knock against those songs either. New Again is a great album. Good choice on ditching Capital M-E. Those hammer-ons are grating.

  9. sink into me is a jam smh

cut me up jenny is atrocious. capital ME is weak and lonely lonely has some ehhhh lines but the rest is all good, sometimes amazing

Yeah mine is not super different from yours really. Here's uh, The New New Again?

    1. New Again
    2. Sink Into Me
    3. Long Time Comin
    4. Summer, Man
    5. Swing
    6. Where My Mouth Is
    7. Catholic Knees
    8. Winter Passing
    9. Carpathia
    10. Didn’t See That Coming
    11. Everything Must Go

I dig the chorus of Sink enough to keep even if the start and pre chorus are just awful. Kinda the same with Where My Mouth Is, bad chorus but the verses have some of the more powerful lines on the album (especially the "before and after the drugs" one).

I fucking hate the chorus of Lonely Lonely with a passion lmao. Cut Me Up Jenny I don't think really needs explaining. I actually like Capital M-E, it's a fun pop song, but everywhere I put it on the tracklist it just sticks out like a sore thumb imo

Musicially, Lonely Lonely is a bop. But yeah, that chorus brings it down. Same thing with Cut Me Up, Jenny. Musically it’s fun, but the lyrics are awful. I really dig that tracklisting though.

cheers! yeah, in terms of instrumentation, New Again is really damn interesting and Fazzi might technically be the best guitarist they had. I really dig the post-hardcore influence and the spaciness in the softer songs. but man Adam was toggling back and forth between his best and worst songwriting on that album, lol

I think Carpathia is one of their best, honestly

I always really liked CMUJ’s verses and prechorus, chorus really brings it down but on the whole I like the song. Surprised people don’t like lonely lonely more too. I think the whole songs really catchy.

I really dug the juxtaposition of Fazzi’s use of weird chords and odd time signatures with Eddie’s hardcore-imfluenced/riff-focused style. And I totally agree with what you said about the lyrics. Some of those songs really spoke to me and what was going on in my life at the time, but some other songs were really just subpar

I do dig Lonely Lonely as a whole despite the chorus, plus Mark O’Connell goes to work on that song.

There’s something about that last 30 seconds where Mark is going ham on the drums, they’re doing the 3 part harmony and there’s that little underlying guitar melody. It’s definitely one their most under-rated songs

Also as far as TBS guitarists go, I’d love to see Fred and Fazzi team up for something. The guitar work would be sick, plus Fazzi could incorporate keys/synths into it too. It’d be awesome. I saw them play a show in Philly together about 2 years ago and met them afterward. Seriously some of the nicest guys in the game right now.

yo what if they bring Fred and Fazzi back in Eddie's place and so some Haste The Day shit with every band member on the next album?

(seriously I'd love to see them back but I know some nasty shit went down with Fred and Adam tho I have no idea what)

Fred and Adam have since made up. I think their fallout was because Fred was writing a majority of the music for Louder Now and thought it was unfair that he wasn’t getting more in royalties because of it. I could be totally wrong though. Also, from what I remember, Fred also apparently tried to get Mark kicked out so there’s no way Mark would be cool about it. Adam and Fazzi also didn’t end things on a high note, and Fazzi went on to make comments about how much they had to auto-tune their 2 live albums because of Adam. Rubano got really screwed over in the whole deal though. He didn’t do anything wrong by the band, it was just because John and Shaun were kind of a package deal.

But imagine how massive that live show would sound- 2 bassists, Fred, Fazzi and John on guitar, and 5 part harmonies between Adam, Rubano, Fred, Fazzi and John.

Also, I’m well aware that that’s all more info than someone who’s not in the band should have, but it’s just what i picked up from that AP interview they did and podcast interviews i’ve heard haha
