I’m in Florida so I have like several weather apps on my phone: Weather, Weather Underground, Carrot, Dark Sky, Hur Tracker

Use stock for pretty much everything else, except Bear for Notes (the stupid drop shadow in Apple Notes fucks with my eyes), Things 3 for work task tracking (still use Reminders for simple around the house stuff), and Castro for Podcasts.

 

I think it’s coming. Next intel chip.

 

Saw they are doing the Beats promotion again for students buying MacBooks. Missed opportunity to just give them a HomePod with a MacBook Pro purchase. Would push Apple Music more, whereas Beats can be used with Spotify and anything else.

 

In the case that the Macbook and Macbook Air don't see an updated 13" variant before the back-to-school event ends...

Can anyone tell me if there's a major performance difference between the 13" MBA with the 2.2GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor and the 13" nTB MBP with the 2.3GHz dual-core 7th-generation Intel Core i5 processor? Both with 8g of RAM and a 256 SSD.

 

The MBP has a retina screen.

I think the RAM may be slightly better in the MBP. I haven't looked at benchmarks to see how the processors stack up.

 

just spent way too long trying to remember how to make custom ringtones with itunes and then even longer trying to figure out how to add them to your phone while using apple music and icloud music library, but when my wife called me and the correct 30 second clip of Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News started playing, it was all worth it.

 

The new Macbook Pro's are insane and I definitely need one in my life.

 

About to take the dive on a 13" that's pretty much maxed out except I'm not spending the extra 700 or so to get 2 TB when 1 TB is enough

 

Also worth noting that the space gray accessories like the Magic Mouse are now available separately from the iMac Pro.

 

For some reason, it looks like my Google Drive account (89~ GB worth fo stuffs) is synced to my MacBook Pro's hard drive. I've looked all over and it says that sync is not on, yet when I delete something from the Drive on the hard drive it disappears from the cloud too. I'd really prefer to free up this space on my hard drive. Any ideas?

 

Alright, so...now it just looks my hard drive is magically losing space. Had 10 GB free two hours ago and now it's down to 7 GB?

 

Download something like DaisyDisk and see what’s being used where.

Anyone know of a good to-do app where you can set a recurring daily to-do for things you have to do every day and also add one item for individual days? I.e. I want to have

Everyday:
Exercise
Log Food
Check Bank Account

Today Only:
Print Out Health Insurance Sheet

 

You should be able to use Todoist for this. I have a couple everyday items, some weekly, and then others I just add for specific days.

 

There's a big difference between those two machines. The 13" MBA is a dinosaur with a 5th gen processor (we're well into the 8th generation now). It also has outdated I/O, an outdated trackpad and keyboard, and a non-retina screen.

The nTB MBP also has faster RAM, better graphics and Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C. The current MBA is all but discontinued at this point so I wouldn't recommend it.

 

There are some free task managers that do this, but I think Things 3 does it best.

Reoccurring tasks rule my life. Hah.

I was thinking the same thing. Give their phones to my wife - trust me, she can break it WAY more easily. Still a cool video.
