I'm facing myself with same dilemma. I've called home my number one all time so many times and I feel like this may be passing it, does this mean it's my number one? Idk I need at least a year with it before I can say. I think it's more or else that I prefer listening to it currently bc it is newer

 

Yeah I mean all 3 Hotelier records are v important to me with Goodness already affecting me greatly. Time will tell I suppose

 

Someone shouted out a request for an old Hotel Year song and Christian laughed and said the one guitarist doesn't even know how to play that song. I never really listened to The Hotel Year record and got into Home late because I thought it was pop-punk and I didn't/don't care about pop punk.

 

I'd check it out, there's a few really great songs on there that aren't too different from the sound they had on Home.

both hotelier records are unreal though

 

INGO is a masterpiece don't sleep on it. It's definitely rooted in pop punk/emo but it's much smarter and creative than a lot of their peers. "Weathered" "An Ode To The Nite Ratz Club" and "Title Track" are amongst the best songs this band has written.

 

Feel sorry for those who don't like INGO

That album is amazing. Just as good as their other two imo.

 

It's a good pop punk record but the other singer just isn't as good so I can't get into it as much. Title track though.. Wow.

Funny thing is that I kind of liked what I heard from that backwards dancer band or whatever

 

The show was unreal. This band is just unreal live. They sounded perfect. I still can't believe I got to see them.
It was crazy, doors got pushed to 730, then 8 because The Hotelier had a tire blow out on them and hadn't got to the venue yet. Not going to lie, while Loone was playing I was nervous the whole time because The Hotelier still weren't at the venue (Loone was really really good).
But yeah the show was just so good. It was good to meet Kyle last night too! First person from the forums I've ever met irl!
Talked to Christian briefly after and just thanked them for playing even with all the van crap they had that day.

 

Was the setlist consistent with the one posted in the tour forum? July 13th is so far off! Can't wait to see this tour

I'm also happy the room kinda filled up too when they came on because it was fairy empty for Told Slant. But seeing everyone screaming the lyrics back at them was an amazing experience. Hope they come back soon, because that was one of my favorite shows. Lost it during Life In Drag too (which is obviously when I felt my voice going out lol). Hearing Among The Wildflowers live solidified my tattoo idea and i made my appointment for it this morning haha

 

Recently I've been trying Goodness pt 1 -> poem -> goodness pt 2 on Spotify and I've been loving it a lot. The acoustic setting transitions perfectly to spoken word. Someone mentioned removing the poem in favor for Goodness pt 1 but I digress. Both "intros" are too good to pass up, so why not both?

 

My gf makes me play goodness pt 1 before we listen to the record and I agree.. It works well as a prequel of some sort

Among The Wildflowers ---> Life In Drag was one of the highlights for me. Man, those two live are NUTS

 

I like the poem first then Goodness 1 & 2. The poem serves as a great "palate cleanser" to set the mood and get me ready for the record and I think 1 flows into 2 very well.

 

To be honest it doesn't feel like it fits anywhere when listening to the album straight through. But if I had to put it somewhere I'd put it before the poem because it feels more like a prequel to the album. I also don't like it directly before part 2 since I feel I'm listening to the same song over again just with a full band.

 

I can understand why they left it off, it works better on its own then a part of this albums sequence.

I'm really glad settle the scar made it on the album, it's clearly different than the rest of the material but I think by placing a high emphasis on the dueling guitar parts and the way the drums and vocals are mixed it works on the record. It feels nice to have a home for such a great song.

 

I've been away from this thread for a few days and now it's a weakerthans thread. I approve.

 

Seeing them toniiiiight. Still pretty bummed Told Slant dropped this show, but v stoked for Loone

 

I've never listened to the Weakerthans...should probably fix that soon.
