I know for a fact there was on the California tour. Literally heard multiple people going "Wait, who's that?" "Where's Tom?"

    I bet that's pretty common.

Definitely was happening around me in the crowd at Lollapalooza 2017.

Even the media as well, I believe it was MSNBC.com where I saw it but they were doing a top 20 list of the hottest Summer tours and Blink was number one. Blink was on the front page but they used a picture with Tom instead of Matt.

Listening to Sum 41 right now. Am I totally misremembering, or were they very large in 2002, like blink level large. I thought history would have been kinder to them.

  7. They were definitely big.

They were huge, especially when Does This Look Infected came out.

  9. Yeah they were right below Blink along with NFG in 2001/2002. Then FOB came along.

  10. All Killer No Filler, which was Sum 41's first full-length album, was released on May 8, 2001.[2]The album was very successful; it was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in August 2001[2] and in 2002, it was reported that the album sold at least 1,690,000 copies in the United States.

Funko pops mostly don’t do much for me, but if they did sets of blink pops for different eras, like, late 90s with Scott, Tom with bleached hair and a white strat, and Mark with purple hair, then they did an Enema era, with Travis now and they’re dressed like that Rolling Stone cover or the WMAA? video or something (the thought of naked funko pops with blurs or instruments covering amuses me), then TOYPAJ era, with Tom’s sideways hat and black strat, Travis now with FSAS apparel, Mark in Atticus or something, then Untitled era with Tom with the jet black, swoopy Emo bangs/Gibson signature hollowbody, Travis with the Mohawk, etc, then a current era lineup like the ones they just did, just with a Matt one, I would be severely tempted. I guess they could do post reunion Tom era set too, if they wanted.

I like the Mark and Travis pops, but if blink is gonna be sitting on my shelf, I’d honestly want Tom to be there. Matt, too.

Yeah that was kind of the tri-fecta of bands: GC, blink and Sum 41? NFG were popular but they weren't big like those three bands. In fact i'd argue GC were bigger than blink from like 02-04.

GC, Sum, and blink, and MxPx rocking my room.

I thought NFG was on that level for a little bit but not as long as those bands were. But yeah, that was pretty much the trifecta of pop punk at the time. I remember Sum 41 was supposed to open for Metallica but it never happened for whatever reason. Mxpx was pretty big as well. I always thought Sugarcult should have been that big.

Unfortunately Funko may see that as too much work.

If I've never listened to MxPx, where would be a good place to start?

It's a shame the record label didn't get behind Sugarcult's 3rd album, which was really good and super underrated, which led to the band basically breaking up because of it. I agree Sugarcult should have been bigger. They had a ton of a fun catchy songs.

I really miss late 90s/early 2000s pop punk bands. Between blink, Green Day, NFG, GC, Unwritten Law, Fenix TX, Sum 41 and Sugarcult just so much great material there.

Good Charlotte and Mest were sound so similar to me on their first albums so I never got that how famous GC got in Europe and then I never met single person who would know Mest there.
