  2. It’s certainly not as hard as outlets have hyped it up to be.

It’s brutal for sure but more trial and error.

I always found the original to be the hardest since it was my first experience with it. 2 and 3 were no problem outside of the DLC areas.

Yeah I agree the orginal is the hardest but it's still not that bad. People are just too used to games where you're overpowered as fuck

  4. It’s also super easy to break Dark Souls games. If you’re comfortable with low health + tearstone rings

I don't think that's a fair assumption. Also, everyone finds different things challenging. I'm not good at fighting games, but my friends are and think it's funny how I can't so all these complicated combos they can.

Just because you think everything else is easy doesn't make it true.

Just wanted to chime in and say I HATE Dark Souls, not because it's a bad game but because its good at making me challenge myself. Too good and many a rough night was had. Dark Souls 2 wasn't as good for me but I think I had a bitter taste from DS1. Didn't pick up DS3 until the Fire Fades edition and that was fantastic. Bloodbourne only barely beats it though.

it just kills me how quickly, like, elitism took over the original artistic goal of the game's genius and inventive implementations of audience into gameplay. like the idea of creating this overwhelmingly hostile universe in which the player is primarily totally isolated, but every once in a while, they can get glimmers of ambiguous communications from ghostly vestiges of humanity which offer advise, support, and encouragement. and before long it all just becomes "git gud" and "amazing chest ahead."

Dark Souls difficulty is pretty aptly tuned, it's not the hardest thing i've done but it's punishing as fuck. once you learn its language and the tells it's very manageable but it requires practice and patience

Of course a genre of a game is going to be hard to someone that's inexperienced in it, no matter what game you are playing. The point I'm trying to make is that Dark Souls games aren't actually that hard and it's more that a lot of other action games are overpowered to the point you don't have to think about what you're doing.

Ahh. If you're comparing it to that specific genre that's much more understandable. I agree. I played and beat Bloodborne and once I got used to everything it wasn't terrible. But I do think they are generally harder than what most gamers play.

Yeah I personally only thought 3 was really hard because it had a lot of unfair moments in my opinion. I made have played it at a bad time though. I had very few problems with 1 and 2, except in some DLC parts I guess.

I cannot remember that game being as hard in my childhood as it was in my adult life.

  17. My first play through of 3 was weird. I always do first runs completely blind and some of the gimmick bosses like Wolnir and Yhorm had me pulling my hair out. I was like WHAT THE FUCK?

3 is probably still my favorite one. I go back and PVP on it occasionally

I think the whole appeal with Crash was the nostalgia. Don't think i'd have bought it if it was my first time. Also; Spyro.

i'm trying to think the hardest game i've played. it really depends on what metric we're talking. Knytt Underground probably had some of the most difficult platforming, as did SMB. Binding of Isaac is really fucking hard until you learn its language and complex rule set. devil daggers just beats the shit out of you until you memorize it and every pirouetting gunshot perfectly; hotline miami is similar but the unpredictability of the AI makes it even more engaging imo. Condemned is tough because of how underequipped you are, but you and the enemies have the same moves and equipment.

i haven't beaten rain world, but that game was tough as shit, too. but it also had design flaws that made it imo really annoying to actually play.

  24. My first run of Dark Souls 2 I died 8~ times I think.

If you played offline you could visit the monument in Majula and it told you a personal death count instead of a worldwide death count.

No idea for the other games haha

or "try using both hands" right in front of a lever so it's a pixel hunt to actually activate the damn thing. hilarious. fucking dark souls community making me more misanthropic than the game did and it was supposed to be the other way around.
