I was shocked at how much people paid for Beggars like a year after the repress happened. I bought one when they repressed it but forgot about it. Someone had asked to buy it from me, leading to me looking into the price, and I was shocked. I always thought people didn't really appreciate it when it came out? Maybe it was just the other one?

 

That’s super kind of you. But Dustin just likes a tweet of mine saying they will be repressing it soon(ish) so I want to wait haha. You’ll have no issue selling it for that price tho

 

FYI this looks much better in person than in the pic - It’s a deeper shade of translucent orange that matches the color on the cover art

 

I'd check out Songbyrd, definitely. It also doubles as a great lil venue, and Weller is playing there on Thursday! Hill and Dale too. If you want to venture into Virginia, Crooked Beat in Alexandria's pretty awesome too. Otherwise, if you're looking more along the punk lines, Smash Records is also great.

The Maine’s Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop is going live at 10 pacific time. First ever vinyl pressing.

Also, according to SRC, Lights’ Siberia Acoustic is getting repressed but I haven’t seen anything about it other than the SRC email.

 

anyone have issues with radiohead records? I have moon shaped pool and in rainbows and both have a ton of surface noise. I cleaned both as well before playing them.

 

I’ve heard bad things about certain AMSP pressings

 

i think my white AMSP skips during the numbers if im recalling correctly

 

hmm, yea just a lot of service noise. I've worked hard to clean them but really not improving. It's detracted me from getting Kid A and Ok Computer.

 

I have Kid A and the OK Computer box set and they both sound amazing

going to use this to segway into discussion. Surface noise is my one complaint about vinyl, I can find it really distracting.. Some records play with little to none, others have it throughout i.e those radiohead records. Do most of you just learn to ignore the surface noise? is it a necessary evil? Just curious to see what people think.

If you can't tell, I'm very new to vinyl. I have an AT LP120 which I have heard can pick up a lot of unwanted sound, I may try a different stylus at some point to improve on the sound quality as well.

 

The last couple of weeks have been kind to my collection and the exact opposite to my wallet lol. Came up on a new turntable too, the time I spend listening to records is about to increase exponentially!

I ordered serpentwithfeet's new record for VMP, which is gold /500. It's a really incredible album.

 

Great pick ups! I wish they would repress Diamond Eyes. Would love to see a deluxe anniversary edition with all the bonus tracks and some more artwork. A box set would be cool, or hell even a 2xLP gatefold or something. The pressing is just so bare bones.

 

I just bought a brand new car so sadly I'll have to be VERY selective about my vinyl purchases/preorders for a while. Doesn't bother me too much though. I might start trying to flesh out my collection of 'classic' releases and stick to the used sections when I browse so I don't even tempt myself to buy new records

 

Thrice's new record is the only thing I anticipate preordering. I've actually been very well behaved lately with purchases; last one was PVRIS Acoustic 10" and that was the first one in a few months.

 

Yeah for sure, the bonus tracks are great for that record! I’d definitely pick up another copy with those added for the right price

 

on the other hand, you just dropped thousands of dollars on a car, whats a few records in comparison?

 

Bought It’s Never Been Like That after the Phoenix show on Saturday for $25 and didn’t even realize it was signed until like 5 minutes later. Neat!
