Totally understand that opinion. I think him and Skiba are in the same boat, been writing the same types of song for so long there's really nowhere left to go. I always thought they were similar in their reuse of melodies and ideas. I happen to be a big fan of their songwriting, tired or not, so I'm not too upset that they don't reinvent the wheel with every release. Tom has actually been open to a lot more experimentation recently especially with The Dream Walker and Of Nightmares EP. I'm thinking/hoping blink will be a nice refresher for Skiba's songwriting.

 

Someone tell Travis it's "Untitled" not "blink-182"!

 

That record is self-titled, not untitled.

 

Mark has confirmed many times that it is untitled. The 2013 shows also confirmed this.

I'm ok with it being called Untitled. For me some albums don't need names. But self titled ones to me either feel like a debut album or sometimes a band starting over or going back to their first sound (which I guess it was a drastic change in sound)

 

I call it untitled.

That's cool. I know they aren't the first to do it but I've never liked it. I'm interested in knowning what kind of albums you feel don't need titles? Maybe if a band never named their albums it would be fine. But naming every one of your albums then acting like this one is too special to name is just pretentious to me.

We really need a new song. This thread had found some of the silliest things to pick apart lol. Like I really don't think they said this album is too special to name. Blink had nothing but joke titles up til that album, and maybe it was just too hard to come up with a serious name that fit it. Maybe they thought whatever they came up with would sound too pretentious? Maybe they thought self-titling it as "this is the album that defines us as a band" was pretentious, so they did something different? Who knows lol. It's really not worth reading that much into it. I always hated the "pretentious" diss. I don't know.

 

Haha I just like taking shots at that era of blink. I seriously hate that album. Plus, with Tom's endless amount of creativity, he should have came up with a life changing name!

 

Favorite part in a blink song and go...

Feeling This. Where tom and mark at the end are both singing the different parts of the song (are we alone you feel it smile fades into summer) etc etc

 

I'm gonna go with the last part of M+M's. I really like the guitar mixed with the vocals during that part.

I doubt the video has already been edited in 2 days. Plus there must be some approvals to be made by the band, label, etc.

Still, I'd love if it was released tomorrow.

 

I agree. I'd honestly be more excited for a second single before the X-Games kickoff to the tour.

 

My 2nd favorite blink moment is easily the chorus of Love is Dangerous. The mixture of the lyrics, insight on love, and sonic landscapes = Goose bumps every time.

"Love, love is dangerous. Love, love is so dangerous."

 

Love is dangerous. So is letting Tom jizz all over an album.

 

Naw, if it wasn't for Tom I wouldn't know that love is dangerous. So dangerous.

 

He does let us know this.

 

This song/album is the main reason why I'll always respect Tom's career and give it a listen when he releases something.
