in your opinion, what's the best way to take care of scars? i keep out of the sun/bathe in sunscreen if i have to have mine exposed, but im curious if there's other things i could be doing to help it fade

Doing stuff to minimize inflammation of the skin is a good start. Scars are notoriously hard to treat. Clinically i use a combination of steroid injections and laser resurfacing but it's crazy expensive.

 

Ya probably want to get screened. I've participated in plenty of free melanoma screening events so keep an eye out for those. They'll often have that at big outdoor events like walks, 5k runs, and music festivals. It's free and extremely convenient.

I would advise for physical sun blockers...anything that has zinc or titanium. They're chalky and gross but work the best.
