This just reminds me of being at a lake and always feeling like Lake Placid 7 was about to take place. When you hear a shriek, just beeline it to shore.

 

Scariest for me was when I was fuckin' around on the bank and got too close to a nest and heard the mom gator hiss at me. I ran away so fast.

 

Now I got that AnCo song stuck in my head. Flori-da-da

 

I thankfully don't have any gator stories. But a shark ran into me at the beach and I'm pretty sure I walked on water for sixty feet (or straight up teleported) because I got out of the water so damn fast I don't know how I did it.

 

Hahah, I bet. I had a coupla of friends out on Wacissa river at night, looking for small gators with a flashlight.... trying to wrestle them out of the water. He grabbed one that was bigger than he thought and it yanked him into the water. He literally flew from the water onto the boat.

 

Someone should play the Jurassic Park theme song over this.

two weeks ago i had my own whole room to myself (as an intern) and now there are 2 other interns =(

I'm glad I reminded myself how much I love Dinosaur Jr. Go me!

 

I'm the only one who has a view of somebody else's computer without turning around, but I'm also the only one whose computer can be seen when somebody walks past. Also can't really listen to music because the distance to the jack on my computer is too long and if I have headphones in, I can't see someone enter to get my attention and I'm a generally jumpy person.

 

I wish people couldn't see my PC. Though, no one questions what I'm doing since chorus looks like a putty session.

 

Tomorrow is going to be the death of me. I live in San Diego and my job wants me to drop something off for them in LA so I have to drive there and back, show up to the airport at 8 for my 10pm flight to NYC. Lay over in Boston so I'll get to New York at 11am and then I can't check into my Airbnb until 6pm :)

 

The difference being that the footage after said dragging was literally the polar opposite, and shows the gorilla clearly holding the child's hand.

I pretty much just said that if parents let a child get in like that then the gorillas get to raise the child because they're more fit for it

This freelance gig is so terrible it makes me want to find a refrigerator box and test my luck under an overpass instead of working. Sadly, it's also my only current source of income.

 

I apparently disagree with a lot of people about the gorilla. I think it's a tragedy that they had to shoot but I'm not sure what people think should've been done instead. Shooting a 450 pound hunk of muscle with a tranquilizer dart, while it is agitated, after it was dragging the child around like a rag doll, doesn't exactly make a whole lot of sense to me. He was being unresponsive to the staff and wouldn't comply with their calls. I wasn't there and so I'm not comfortable with condemning the parents but I guess I just don't understand the outrage. Kids do crazy, impulsive things and parents aren't perfect. The whole thing sounds like it happened in a matter of seconds so it's very likely that the mom simply looked away for a few seconds and unfortunately lost sight of the boy.

This is just my two cents and I'm really not interested in arguing with anyone about it, but this is something that has been on my mind a lot since it happened and it feels good to get it out. I think both sides of the argument are valid but I also think that if you're going to be outraged, be outraged at zoos as a larger entity. Captivity killed Harambe, not the mom of a 4 year old boy.
