I did a Discog run today and Simple Math still holds as my favorite.

 

Black Mile is certainly their magnum opus but Simple Math is not very far behind

 

Simple Math just clicked for me like last week after years of trying.

 

Simple Math was an immediate connection for me. It was also the album cycle I saw them tour behind most. I saw them 4 times throughout their support for that album. Pale Black Eye, Leave it Alone, and Simple Math are all top tier Manchester songs. And being from Florida, they’re always kind enough to play Pensacola for us simpletons down here.

 

Pale Black Eye absolutely rips live, I'd love to hear Leave It Alone and Apprehension live one day

 

I’m pretty sure they’ve played Pale Black Eye every time I’ve seen them since Simple Math was released.

 

They played it when I saw them in February and it was nuts

I think about getting the Simple Math cover tattoo a lot.

 

I used to refuse to even give this band a shot solely based on the name. No idea why, same with Against Me. Two of my favorite bands now lmao

Lol my grandmother argued with me forever that she loved Manchester orchestra so then I put on shake it out and she said “omg this is horrible”

This thread is making me want to give Simple Math a re-listen. It just didn't click with me when I first heard it. I have such a deep attachment to Mean Everything To Nothing for some reason...so there's that.

To me Simple Math is the perfect follow up to METN by taking everything great about that album and expanding on it. I don’t think it reaches some of the highs of METN (Shake It Out, I Can Feel A Hot One, The River) but it’s more consistent and feels more matured. I also think I’ve got more of a personal attachment to it though, I discovered it during a tough time in my life and I think that’s why the title track is probably my favorite song of theirs.

 

This past week or so was wanting to convert me to the Black Mile is the best camp, but screw that. Simple Math is the GOAT. I’ll die on that hill.

I’ve always adored Simple Math and I’ve sincerely never understood people’s problems with it. I’m completely fine with opinions, people not liking it, etc. I just don’t understand. Haha

Pensacola & Pale Black Eye are the tracks I love the most off SM. Love seeing both live.
