Well, Not as an individual, no I cannt decide for everyone, but I certainly do have my opinions on them. We all do. I think the fact that something like that could dibiltate people to the point where they couldn’t continue learning/studying, basically a student doing their job, is not a good sign of the culture. And the fact that ppl tell them that that’s a validated response aren’t helping.. imo. As a society, i don’t think we decide what trauma is valid or invalid, but we do kinda dictate what should be an appropriate response to the Trauma being experienced. And yes, I don’t believe staying In and pouting is what should be promoted at college campuses, when an election doesn’t go their way. That shouldn’t become the normal and accepted reaction.

It’s not about ‘being offended’...it’s because we know implict bias and racism is a thing that is shaped by things like language and how we talk/speak about certain things. In order to help stop that implicit bias from building in people, we need to stop the way certain words or actions are done.

So we should juat keep our heads down and keep those cogs turning in the machine. Students aren't employees. School is not a job.

Also its pretty telling that you reduce this all down to "an election that didnt go thier way."

Gotta keep America strong becuase you gotta keep America strong.

Gotta love America because you gotta love America.

Did you, in all your research, ever come across a reason that people, any people anywhere, shouldn't love america?

I don’t think the “safe spaces” that you’ve been told exist and built up in your mind, actually exist.

That's why I posted those links up there. Hopefully they'll get around to reading them.

Mass protests and movements and thousands of people joining organizations isn't staying in and pouting.

The stereotype of the Tumblr sjw is way less of a problem than you probably think and whenever this is called out, it's almost always kids on campus, "LOOK AT THIS CRAZY FEMINIST", hardly people in power or leaders.

The leftist activists doing hard work are not payed attention to.

Citations Needed did a great episode on this. Here's an excerpt from that episode's transcript that boils down how these "safe spaces" are fabricated

TLDR the Koch brothers essentially pay people to find anecdotes of "safe spaces gone wild" and a deep dive shows that most of these anecdotes are sensationalized

Should the people in the countries we've destabalized love America? Should black people who have had a sham "equality" for less than a century trust and love America? Should lgbtqa people who didn't have marriage rights until less than a decade ago and in some cases cant even use the bathroom in peace love this country? Should poor people who have to choose between paying rent and eating love this country? Should Muslims love this country as they are vilified by the government?
@Kuri44 You haven't responded to this either time it was posted but you reply to me so I digured I'd bring it to your attention.

Well said, I can see your point, and I don’t doubt that those are just a few of the many reasons you’ve laid out as the foundation for the argument. But, I believe that, like many other issues that grasps a whole nation, people start using these issues as platforms for their own agendas (see: power, control) and the original intentions/motivation get lost, misconstrued, warped and the result is usually radicals end up leading the way using the same kind of toxic means they claim
Their opponents of being guilty of and the people (us) are just points in a game.
But for the reasons you mentioned personally, like I said, I see where you’re coming from, but overall I don’t think censoring and banning words is the right or effective approach to the solution, and by trying to do that, it creates unnecessary issues of all kinds ( for starters, what Can comedians say and not say? How come some comedians can say something and others can’t?) My approach to comedy is that either everything is alright or nothing it. That doesn’t mean that everyone has to find it all funny, but it means that you don’t or shouldn’t set out/get to ruin a career or persons life because you don’t like what they’re joking about. That’s how humor is dying, (and why we’ve settled for Trevor Noah as daily show replacement. Half-joking. Seriously, I watch him every night, but then when i watch an old jon Stewart clip, I think to myself “wow, i forgot just how shitty the Daily Show is now”.

I could go on all day about the pros and cons of the video but as both a cystic fibrosis patient and vet student, CRISPR is incredibly exciting, though I think those of us with the most to benefit are also the most understanding of the risks involved. Worth noting too that CRISPR isn’t some crazy sci-fi black box technology either; it’s already extremely helpful in making routine lab work faster or more efficient, so I wish the ethics discussions on biotech didn’t just focus on “should we make unicorns?”

Lastly, this is more of a fun fact, but the cystic fibrosis community has started to get some really cool cutting edge gene therapy drugs/pills, so treating genetic disease need not be limited to injecting foreign DNA into our bodies.

Edit: final point on politics and gene editing: the economic bastardization of antibiotic development and resistance is doing endlessly more damage than a lack of gene therapy.
