Man, i really want to give a fully thought out Answer, So I’ll post a proper response once I get home. But just a few general things for now, first off I agree with the overreaction/ behavior in our society. Like the whole political correctness, and everyone always being offended about the littlest things (that are now considered huge things cause we are actually living in a pretty fantastic time right now and have the time and opportunity to complain about stupid shit), and how we label everyone and everything, and how everyone needs to feel safe and comfortable. I also am weirded out by the whole anti American rhetoric going on, like that’s first world problems at its fucking finest. People talk like America is one big racist, heartless country, and are so willing to throw their own country under the Bus just to feel like they are part of the perceived “woke kids” countries, without even knowing those countries immigration laws and/or lack thereof. if that doesn’t make sense to some, it’s because it doesn’t. Ok, wrapping this up as it was supposed to be short, but I think we have a serious immigration issue (illegal and legal, not including refugees seeking asylum) that needs to fixed effectively and asap. Also, our relationship is/has been deeply poinsoned with Mexico, which doesn’t help that the Mexican government is corrupt beyond repair, plus the corruption that has occurred with our help. They need to get their shit together. They also need to take more responsibility and be held just as, if not more accountable for the illegal immigration occurring. Their govt is always playing victim even though they have more than enough resources to help those traveling through. Having lived in Brownsville, and having the opportunity to travel back and forth into Mexico so freely , where so many of my friends lived but would drive over for school, etc. I can tell you all that they are just like us in every way, positive and negative, and just like a lot of people in America and American govt who are prejudice against others, there are lots of prejudice people in Mexico and and Mexican govt too. They don’t want to help their own people, much less people from other Latin countries.

I hope something good comes of it and it isn't a big "nothing" burger. Looks like some of the documents are ones investigators already had.

Part of me is wondering if he did a shitty job shredding unimportant documents on purpose to waste investigators' time, but then again, I don't know that he's that smart heh. I'm sure anything of value from this is probably being kept under wraps.

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Not sure if you all heard about the stabbing in Boise, where 9 people were injured, 6 of them children...it was at a 3 yr old's birthday party and the 3 year old passed away today. I'm completely heartbroken, as I do a lot of work with the IRC, and this was an attack on a group of refugees, in which the guy was staying with one of them and recently got kicked out.

Theres a lot of privilage to unpack here but...
People wanting to feel safe is bad? And if people wanting to feel safe is bad does that make people feeling unsafe... good? Should trans people be afraid to use the bathroom? Should minorities fear for thier lives when dealing with cops? Are these "good" things?

The reason there is “anti-American” rhetoric going on, is because everything the government is doing is spitting in the face of what America was (in theory, not necessarily in practice), built upon.

How can anyone not see that?

That’s not even touching on the shit that police do on a daily basis (even though they are just another arm of the govt. that is used to further suppress POC and the poor).

I fail to see how people wanting things to change for the better is people “throwing their country under the bus.”

America was built on racism and exploitation and it remains racist and exploitative. This shouldn't be controversial. Fuck this place

Anti-American is the wrong word to use here. I think expecting this country to be its best and calling it out for wrong doings is a great thing for the future of this country and it’s not “anti-American.”

As pointed out above, we’ve never really been a great country to start, and now people are finally fucking catching on and demanding we be better.

That’s a good thing and I hope that pressure continues.

I like how you phrased this, I'm gonna tack on a few things

Many folks right now are very much anti capitalism and America is the worlds largest example of end stage capital. So if you're opposed to capitalism (and all it necessitates ie class racial gender sexuality based division and violence) you have to oppose how this country functions.

@Jesse West Of course people wanting to feel safe is a good thing, but actually being safe is even better. The two examples you gave are rational fears because we’ve seen individuals in those circumstance harmed and/or killed countless numbers of times. There’s also resolutions to conquer those rational fears, though unfortunately they never get fully solved, as of now at least, but people are trying find ways to make sure lives aren’t put in any danger when in those situations. My statement is more in regards to safe spaces from thoughts, words, ideas, events (ex. Professors letting college students skip class due to 2016 elections), that people FEEL they NEED safe spaces from these is delusional, especially when dealing with topics with real life issues and consequences. And if they are exposed to such, then they experience trauma and grief. validating those irrational thoughts and reactions is only enabling that delusion for generations to come. I mean, we’re all adults and being adult means being mature and facing some harshness in the world. I really think there’s a relation between that delusion and enabling of, the way we consume information with technology, the information and misinformation we are given, and the fact that people feel so helpless, have low self-esteem, and are overall personally unhappy.

I was just thinking about this earlier today... we’re not anti-American, we bring attention to all the things that are wrong in order to fix them.

I think safe spaces were designed to help communities who directly had mental health problems due to triggers. Mainly the lgbt communities. Sadly, the concept of safe spaces have been co opted by those who perpetrate violence.

I have no problem with this. Election Day should be a national holiday.

I know I may sound crazy, but as of recently I’ve been very critical of technology and the way it’s being used to manipulate all of us lol. After getting off of every social media app (chorus is now my only source of social media), it’s amazing how much time I have to focus on myself, to read, to study, to get even so much done. And I get so much more out of conversing with ppl now, since I really don’t know what they’ve been up to. It’s also scary to see how much time
People spend on their phone/tablets/computers. It’s like a twilight zone episode come to life, where we are living In virtual reality based world. We can and do present ourselves however we wish and do all our business through screens now. Basically the only two things that everyone still does in the real world is shit and sleep.

Yeah I agree, that would be nice if it was a national holiday. That wasn’t the reason they were letting their students skip though.

  23. I skipped class for much dumber reasons than the 2016 election, for example i skipped a lot of class to get high and play video games
