  1. any mild socdem platform would be immediately jettisoned by donors anyway which is why candidates cant have donors

if someone was going to win on Corbyn's platform in the US they'd probably just get murdered before the election

  2. It sucks, but what it means is to organize and begin lower down. Start the process in small waves. Direct action, direct results, and build upward.

Well, you can do a lot of things you can't just by being in the majority, like stop all of Trump's judicial nominees. So, that's a good thing. Push for deeper blue seats in the house, move the expectation for all dems, and then at some point it will become politically impossible for someone like McCaskill to either face a legit primary, and lose, if she doesn't.

  3. this is literally just an attack on Iran and Venezuela. great stuff

  4. It will depend on Trump's approval in those states IMO. I think he should be able to take PA. Turnout in the city should do that. The economy (if it keeps doing as well as it is) may take Michigan away though. :-/

  5. It also doesn't seem likely to work.

  6. i would not bet on the economy

tariffs based on fever dream slights + that tax bill should be enough to make everyone's lives more hellish for a few years

It’s crazy how far away 2 years feels. If the SC doesn’t motivate Dems enough to vote like hell these midterms, then 2020 just feels terrible.

I’m leaving this website until David decides to stop being like this. See you guys probably never. I’m not kidding this is my last post for a while. I can’t take it anymore.

  9. The question I have is when. I don't think we're going to see a slowdown before the mid-terms. 2020 is where things are possible on that angle. But, it means they'll probably come for entitlements in-between depending on what happens in the mid-terms.

The tariffs are fucking shit up already though. At a friend's company they literally can't find people to work jobs they need right now and the prices on steel, etc., are going through the roof and making the fasteners they sell way more expensive.

  11. I bet Portland cops fucking love their jobs. They get to use "less than lethal" force on antifa to help proud boys all the time

  12. i thought that before the tariffs but i really think those will make everybody insane

  13. At the same time, election night 2016 is still crystal clear to me. Hard to believe *that* was nearly 2 years ago

  14. *sigh*

    I know.

  15. Specifically, they will make a lot of Trump voters insane as well. Even though it doesn't seem to be moving the needle with them according to all these profiles. Bleh.

I don't think Bernie gets the nom, and I'm leaning towards he probably shouldn't, but he'd be the easiest and safest choice for VP to basically anyone who wins.

I think a woman makes the most sense, I'm still hesitant on some of Harris' positions and I'm not sure if Warren would run at this point.

Also I'd basically vote for anyone not R so I'm not a great litmus test for who should be the nominee. Lot of shit to go down still.

5 conservative SCOTUS basically means single payer would be DOA anyway, so I truly don't care who wins the nom anymore. They'll get my vote, hope it's Bernie for personal reasons but politically a 78 year old might not be the best choice.

Why won't Bernie get the nomination?

I don't know, just a feeling. I think the spotlight is on him and he's being picked apart for little shit, which is slowing his momentum. And people still like him and he's still inspirational but its also easy to adapt parts of his platform for a younger candidate with, presumably, less baggage and less attention leading up to the run. I feel like he gets close but someone builds momentum and starts saying the right things and takes it home.

I could also be totally wrong and Bernie could run away with it. Its gonna be a crowded field, anyone can win by standing out more than the pack. Gonna be interesting. I'd literally vote for any of them besides maybe a billionaire celebrity.
