I can’t even tell you how the sequel ended. The main character opened her arms and screamed and I for the first time in my life turned a movie off (what I would imagine/hoped) 10-15 minutes before the ending with no care.

 

The Descent is modern horror at its finest. I kinda wish I went in not knowing about the creatures. I would have flipped for that reveal.

 

That is an awesome poster. “A film by RKSS” am I supposed to know who that is? I don’t recognize the initials.

 

It’s a film production company

 

Have they done anything noteworthy? Or worth checking out at least?

 

Turbo Kid

 

i didn't like turbo kid but a friend loved this film so i have good expectations

 

also rewatched The Witch with a new viewer the other night and what a fucking film, knew i was right to call it my fav horror of 2015 after one watch

 

Oh damn! I loved turbo kid! Let the hype begin haha

Saw the Endless just now.
Not as good as I thought their first two were but still very solid and enjoyable.

 

I've got it on my To Watch list for tonight .I'm not expecting anything amazing but it looks at least a decent watch. How was it?

 

I watched The Autopsy of Jane Doe tonight. Very good.

 

Are Resolution/Spring/The Endless streaming anywhere? Definitely interested in them based on Bonestorm and the discussion itt

 

I definitely don't think it's hyperbole to say The Descent is one of the best horror movies ever made.

I'll never forget my first viewing on this. Someone gave it effusive praise on a message board back in 2005—maybe JoBlo/Arrow In The Head?—and I just blindly ordered the DVD from Britain off eBay if I remember right. Had not seen a poster, let alone a trailer. Had zero clue what it was even about.

One of the most thoroughly terrifying viewings I've ever had in my high school bedroom. I very nearly fell out of my bad when the nightvision creature reveal happened. Maybe my favorite "scare" in any horror movie ever.

EDIT: I avoided the sequel because I heard it was terrible, but I guess that plot kind of dampers the utter bleakness of the OG British ending...

 

I just watched Martyrs (2008) yesterday cause it was the required viewing for the Sardonicast podcast and that movie fucked me up.

 

Excited to hear them talk about it, especially if one of them really dislikes it

 

Martyrs is pretty fucked up yeah

 

Martyrs is high on my “probably can’t ever watch this” list.

 

if Hereditary is too much then definitely stay away from Martyrs

 

No I adored Hereditary! But torture porn is too much and I’ve heard the violence in that is beyond the pale.

 

Feel like all the 2000’s French horror movies (High Tension, Inside, Martyrs) are in a league of their own when it comes to the gore. Hell, even Aja’s Hills Have Eyes remake is the only time I can remember thinking “uyyyyyyyyyy, this is...a lot” in a theater.

 

Honestly the climax of Gerald’s Game was much worse for me than anything in Hereditary or any other recent movie. There’s like four things I just can’t handle in movies and degloving is one of them.

 

I watched the original Halloween with my girl last night because she’d never seen it. My god, is that movie masterfully shot. Even the shots of the girls walking home from school. The cameras movements and composition is on point. I’ve never really noticed it until last night.
