el paso is super dry like 0-5% humidity, going back home for a week soon and no real air conditioning (most houses in el paso have evaporative coolers that only work well until it's like 90 degrees outside) is going to kill me.

 

There Will Be Blood is not a movie for everyone, but it is undeniably a film classic. Daniel Day Lewis rightfully gets credit for his legendary performance as Daniel Plainview, but Paul Dano completely steps up to match him as Eli Sunday - their scenes together are unnerving and electric. Jonny Greenwood's soundtrack is anxious and weird. To be frank, I don't even particularly enjoy the movie, but I've watched it 5+ times purely for the performances and character nuances. Plainview's mission to build an oil empire turns to madness before your eyes - or was it there the whole time?

 

come live in chicago then. i remember the first winter after i moved here, there was a week where the temp did not go above -5. my work actually closed its doors and told everybody to stay home out of fear of people freezing while waiting for public transit.

Nothing in that trailer makes the movie look even remotely interesting. It appears to be about money, oil, and religious freaks, none of which I care about in the least.
