The gimmick of a bigger predator seems silly, but the trailer was cool and I definitely have faith in Shane Black

 

it's rainy and shitty today and i have to leave work early, take my cat to the vet, and then go home and work some more from home. please recommend me a good spooky rainy movie to have on in the background.

 

Pretty damn awesome. The story doesn't grab me honestly, and I think it'll be hard to top Predators (2010), but there are some interesting castings in Keegan Key, Sterling Brown, Thomas Jane and Alfie Allen so i'm definitely gonna be checking this one out.

Predators is one of those weird movies, similar to The Strangers, that I definitely enjoy but can hardly remember anything from despite having seen it like three times

Oh, I also saw The Strangers: Prey at Night and thought it was better than the first film, oops. Visually interesting, great soundtrack/score choices, and a healthy dose of Carpenter worship.

Same with me. I have avoided seeing it because I really liked the first one, but now i'm interested.

 

I tried to watch the predator movies the same summer I watched all the alien movies but was not a fan of the predators as like a species

 

They definitely strike me as a bit niche-y.

 

Made a list of some movies people were listing here the other day. Just finishing up The Descent.. pretty lame. Watching Raw next

 

Got the Criterion for Don’t Look Now today and I’m so excited!

 

This opinion is certainly an outlier. The Descent is one of the best and smartest horror movies around imo. Works on so many levels. Really hate how shit-tastic the sequel was.

The Descent is one that I’ve never watched because of an inside joke I had for years with a friend about horror movies sticking people in holes and then that came out and I just couldn’t take it seriously. If I can catch it streaming I’ll have to give it an actual shot.

 

It’s on Netflix. Everyone go enjoy its greatness.

 

I usually don’t get pissed at films but this one did the trick. On top of that it completely fucked up what happened in the original. A total shitfest.

Edit: the “cover” image in Netflix makes it look stupid as shit. It’s not really a monster movie like the cover makes it seem.

 

I JUST saw that and it made me click on it to make sure it was the right one.

As someone who works in Marketing it makes me cringe to see such a lazy and shit image as the cover of a great film. I would never watch the film if I saw that cover (I know you’re not supposed to just a book, or film, by its cover but come on, that is awful). If I was the director or anyone associated with the film? I’d be furious at (I presume) Netflix for choosing that as the artwork.

 

Plus the actual cover art with the characters arranged as a skull is fucking gorgeous. I'll never understand Netflix not using the actual covers and just using random shots from the film.
