It was decent. Definitely meant for fans. It was just sort of a fly on the wall during the recordings. Which is exactly what they said it would be. No history of, no in the daily lives. Perhaps I was just spoiled with May it Last from Judd Appatow and the Avett Bros.

Overall I enjoyed it. The acoustic set sounded perfect. Gold, Alien, Grocery all very well done. Q&A started out well. Asking about their emotions in performance and writing, transitioning different sound styles, origins of closing songs, etc. And then the last two questions were....awful. one weird random out of nowhere one. And then... The bad one lol.

Grabbed a drink with Andy and Rob after the show. Rob is such a sweetheart.

    I do not exist.

I can't believe someone would ask that. So disappointing.

Glad there was a good response from Andy and the crowd.

    Motel. Money. Murder. Madness.

It’s always the Brand New kids.

I started just avoiding kids in Daisy shirts all together eventually.

Even if Andy and Jesse were still friends in any way, that's not something to be asked. Unless, of course, the person was completely oblivious to what happened, which is not out of the question. It was a genuinely awesome moment seeing them share the stage, but those moments are now tainted (and rightfully so) like everything else in Brand New's legacy.

Yeah, imagine not knowing (again, fully possible) but then hearing the response from Andy and the crowd and having someone explain to you what happened after you asked that question. Yikes.

Lucky. I have VERY fond memories of drinking with Andy at a hole in the wall place he played after an RAGC show in 2012 in Akron.

We reach for the longest shadow

very curious what this will sound like, since it seems like these songs weren't conceived organically with an acoustic guitar.

The demo version of The Parts better sound like it was recorded with a toaster.

If he’s releasing Black Mile demos, that brings us one step closer to Sinful Math, right?

I want him to get all this Manchester Orchestra stuff out now so when Bad Books is released we can just dive fully into that.

Hey I was at that show! Akron Musica. First time I saw Andy live.

Bummed I missed out on the drinks! Haha

Yeah. It was awesome. I miss Musica. Haven't been back since I saw The Front Bottoms there in 2013. I used to love going to 3 Point before shows, which was a restaurant/bar right in front of Musica (which I heard closed).

Andy hung out on the back patio for a few hours after the show. Not too many people were out there, so he just bullshitted with everyone for a while. I talked to him for a good 30-40 minutes, we had a few beers. We didn't even talk about music. Mostly basketball, as he's a huge NBA fan. The next night they were playing in Cincinnati with Weezer (might have been Bunbary), and he told me 'I can get you in if you want to go' which I was honored he even said that. I couldn't swing it though as Cinci is like, a 5 hour drive from Cleveland and I had a work event the following night. But a great night that I'll never forget.

Below is a picture from that night. I was probably a little drunker than Andy.

Things like that would cause the new songs to get lost in the shuffle. One summer, in between album cycles, I can see something happening. But not when the last record is still within shouting distance, and you’re still rolling out things related to it.
